My main problem with G5 was making all they did for nothing by making all the ponies hate and separate from each other. I hoped and expected that we would get a good explanation for why it happened and we didn't!

So the reason Harmony fell apart in Equestria and the 3 races hate each other is just because an Earth pony got hurt by a unicorn, and the three races started fighting each other over that (like seriously?!). But the villain Opaline was behind it and tried to steal all the magic from Equestria. Twilight took all the magic and put it into those three crystals to stop Opaline from becoming all powerful, but the three races had already split up.

After everything the heroes of Equestria did and the message of friendship and harmony they shared to the other kingdoms and throughout the land, a small one-time hate crime is what ruined everything and make them all hate each other?! That's a good way of showing how dumb and gullible the ponies of Equestria are again, just as dumb as they were to turn against each other in the Ending of the End after hearing some rumors despite being a united nation for so long. I couldn't have imagined a dumber and more unreasonable reason for everything the Mane 6 worked so hard for and accomplished to be for nothing.

Not to mention it makes Twilight look bad for making such a reckless decisions to seal away all the magic. The Twilight I know and love would NEVER do something like that.

And I especially feel bad for Twilight, I expected and hoped that the separation and harmony falling apart thing would have happened centuries into the future, long after the mane 6's passing (Which would've made a lot more sense). Twilight and her friends living and be forced to see the fall of everything they worked for, not happening very long after seemingly succeeding in bringing peace and harmony to Equestria, is very sad and a good way to twist the knife in deeper.
