"Keep the faith; Not in our time;" You're not saying this to convince them, you're doing it to convince yourself. You're so weak you need others to help shoulders the weight of your delusions. The writing is on the wall: The end is near. The question is...when? What frighened him the most was the notion that what if that discouraging voice was right? What if his, Falcon, and Stuart's efforts really were for naught? Duke grappled with these thoughts day after day and night after night. It was a silent battle in which he refused to capitulate. He was determined to lead the way for the sake of Stuart and Falcon, engines he had come to see as like his sons.
