Description
During the 1920s, the fledgling LMS was severely lacking in express motive power. A sort of civil war was raging between former LNWR and Midland Railway men, whose locomotive policies before the grouping were polar opposites. When George Hughes, the railway's first chief mechanical engineer, Sir Henry Fowler took up the office, who beforehand was the Midland Railway's CME, satisfying the Midland men. Fowler then set to designing an compound pacific, but the running department denied that and one GWR Castle Class number 5000 Launceston Castle, was obtained to test out a 4-6-0 design. The Castle, along with drawings of the Southern Railway's Lord Nelson class and a partnership with the North British Locomotive Company, lead to the development of the Royal Scots, 70 of which were built by NBL and Derby Works. The Patriots were a subsequent development, and were rebuilt from LNWR Large Claughtons, 52 were built in total. The Jubilees were the final development of the 5XP series and were essentially Patriots with Stanier taper boilers, with 113 built straight from the drawing board. Two Royal Scots 6100 Royal Scot (who is actually 6152 Kings Dragoon Guardsman), and 6115 Scots Guardsman. No original Patriots survive, but a new one is under construction, number 45551 The Unknown Warrior, which should be complete by late this year or early next year. Four Jubilees survive, 5593 Kolaphur, 5960 Leander, 5596 Bahamas, and 5699 Galatea.Related content

I had never heard of those before now. The oldest engine i've ever made a sprite of was an LNWR special tank from 1870.

That's what I specialize in, taking parts off of engines and using to build new ones.
