Mike returned to Arlesburgh where the passengers got off, and Mr. Duncan was showered with complaints about what a bad railway he ran, then they all spoke harshly to Mike at what a bad engine he was, and one little girl even threw her ice cream at him. Her mother and father reprimanded her, but it didn't do anything to change their anger with him. Mr. Duncan then spoke crossly to Mike.

"Mike, you've got a lot to answer for."

"It's that fussy young woman. She's always complaining about everything. I got extra coaches and I waited for her even after the guard's whistle and she still found something to complain about."

"That girl is Jessica. I've known her for a long time and she always finds something to complain about. In your quest to please her, you ironically ended up making the rest of your passengers cross. I know you had good intentions in what you did, but you'll just have to accept the fact that passengers will always complain about things, whether us the railway are responsible or not."

"Yes sir." Mike said, and just then, the other engines arrived at the junction.
