Yup, Checker bought a bus company but could not make a go of it. This is a great photo. If you're interested in the Checker cars and taking photos of them, the 2016 Checker convention will be in Hershey, PA from June 23-26. More info at www.checkerworld.org.

I interned for the AACA Museum one summer while I was in college. What a fun time that was! Nice job photographing this, btw. Even with a tripod and the ability to move the barriers as an official intern, it still wasn't easy to get good shots there.

No, it really isn't.Β Most of my shots from inside the museum suck.Β With as many times as I've been in there I've never figured out a good way of shooting around the barriers.Β It also doesn't help that the buses are packed in like sardines.
If you're local to the Hershey area we've probably run into each other at car shows.

The biggest aid I had during my time there was a wide-angle lens. It saved my butt so many times I couldn't count.
I'm not a Hershey local (though I kinda was while attending LVC), but I'd say the chances are high that we have run into each other at some point if you frequent Macungie shows.

Wow, I drove 934 right through LVC's campus yesterday and today both.
Let me know what upcoming shows you're planning on attending and maybe we can meet up at one of them.Β Next weekend I'm planning on being at Cars Under The Stars in Perkasie on Saturday night and I'm not sure what I'm doing on Sunday.Β American Muscle (Maple Grove) if it gets rained out on Saturday, and I'm not sure what show I'll go to if it isn't.Β I'll make that call Saturday night, lol.

The only show currently in my planner is the Rough and Tumble Threshermen's Reunion this Wednesday. Gonna break out my camera for the first time in a while and take a bunch of pictures! Maybe I'll sit down this week and plan a car show to go to. Haven't been to one in a while.

This bus features a very particuliar design. The paint job reminds me of the infamous VolksWagen van and the front of a transcontinental diesel train. I am not a connaisseur but I like it .
Thanks for sharing this image.

It looks like a fare box that would be bolted to the floor next to the driver. You put your money in, the driver can see it through the little window. The driver then presses something and the money drops to a box in the bottom part. Driver doesn't have to handle money. Problem was, you had to have exact change.

I knew it would take an oldtimer to figure it outΒ
Looked like the thing next to a "pony ride" in front of stores in the 60s

I'm not sure.Β I think it's a period prop to go with the bus, but I didn't look to see what it was.Β Was too focused on the bus itself.
