This piece was a long time coming! For years I had toyed with the idea that maybe H.G. Wells' novel wasn't fiction? What if The War of the World's actually happened?

What if London was attacked by marauding Martians in the 19th Century? Then it occurred to me that when we land on Mars, maybe we find artifacts that prove the unthinkable!

A derelict Fighting Machine is found by an astounded astronaut. What a discovery!

I had a lot of fun with this idea: Has the tripod been covered by Martian sand for decades and only just been revealed by a sandstorm? What else does he uncover....a hidden base?

I've lived with Michael Trim's tripod design for 30-something years, and it still fires my imagination. It truly chills me still when I see the album art.
