well, i thought i'd do something different, so i put together this here photomanipulation of Morpheus from Sandman.it was so difficult to get all the elements i needed. half of them were from google images, the other half photographed by me. and they were just as difficult to put together.
and in the end, i still dont like it. bah.
perhaps my standards are too high. perhaps its not possible to make photomanipulations look good. no. no i Know thats not true, i've followed the carreers of some very excelent photomanipulationists.
im not sure whats wrong with this one, though. so it goes in scraps

Thank you! this is a very nice comic. Sandman, as you know, is full of such great imagery, as well as atmosphere... it's easy to be inpsired by it, I think. I'm glad to hear that I have pulled it off well, in the end!

mabe you dislike the little bag he has, seems out of place and draws the eyes away from the bright ruby, mute the color of the bag just a little and see if you like the picture more, oh and his helm is about the best I have ever seen it, and that includes cannon

Ah, you are close, I think! The bag bothered me. The hand that holds it bothered me more. The body also bothered me.... looks too much like a sheet. (which it is) Didn't like the ruby all that much either.
I WAS quite pleased with the helm, though. That's where the idea came from really. That the helm looks like a gas mask with a spine and insect eyes.

AND DID HE????? Noooooooo. well, he did do the caterpillar one and there was that sploding planet one, but that's not ENOUGH.
iiiiiiiiiii think we need to start a peskering campaign with annoying catchphrases like, "We Want Swinger SpaceScapes" and "No SpaceScapes? No Way!"
And they need to be of the appropriate dimensions for making into wallpapers too!

Your madd, thats all there is to it. I love this image, it reminds me of the cover of Neverwhere. The only difference being the purple and black themes. Gaiman is a god and you compliment him well!

I was looking over your pictures earlier (as I'm sure you've noticed, seeing as you've commented here), one thing I'm still trying to get the hang of is Proportion, which I see you've gotten down quite well!

It was instantly recognisable as the Sandman to me, so you can't have done as badly as you think (I am currently reading the fourth graphic novel in the series at the moment).

thank you for the comment! i did try to make it look like it was from the books, i seem to have succeeded there. As time goes on i am starting to like it more. as you can see its no longer in Scraps, for example.
