In Sonic the Comic, and various other early Sonic books and comics, Sonic has a full origin story where he started out as an ordinary brown hedgehog and didn't get his blue colour and speed abilities until later. I tend to go with that idea myself, I think it's a lot of fun.

The first Sonic game came with a cheesy "origins" comic which explained how Robotnik/Eggman came to be and how Sonic went from this to the familiar blue look. Only Fleetway takes it seriously nowadays though. [link]

Truth is, they were going to make Sonic a rabbit at first... but then they thought that a hedgehog would be better than a rabbit.

Really cute sketches,your redemption of sonic is pretty detailed,i like it a lot.
You know, at the beggining when I first heard about it, I didnt liked fleetaway concept,I thought it was something "ridiculus" for super sonic to be that way and so on....
Then I read it...and absolutly love it,honestly,why the archie version isnt like that? 200-something issues and I never saw an artist that suited sonic the way the main one from fleetaway did in such a....consistend way.
Also,unlike archie,I dont have to worry about the LOADS AND LOADS of characters that I never hard of before xD("Sonic universe" was in a good direction...but they decided to go to that 25 years in the future plot again urg) at last fleetaway feels like an ADAPTATION OF THE GAME lol

My favourite has to be the handstand, because that sort of pose looks so difficult to draw yet you pull it off so well. I see from the plaster on his leg he's had a few falls before though. ^^

The furry spines and the proportions look awesome, but how you draw his faceexpression is sovereign !

If you look on my DA page there's a link to download the comics- they're out of print now but you can still get scans on the net.
Also I think that website also has scans of all the Archie comics as well. You have to register but it's free.
