That is fantastic! I like how one staircase is spiral and the other is a bit more traditional.

Definitely a nice piece of work! I appreciate those who have their own little take on designs, especially for a show like this one.

The director has really worked out a wonderful approach to it...should be exciting!

Sweeney Todd on a thrust sounds most intriguing. And very intense!! I really like the mood you've created here; love the catwalks and stairs as well as the brick.
Of the versions I have seen of of Sweeney Todd, there is often a large--often ugly--set piece which allows a something (perhaps a body) to slide from the Barber's chair upstairs down to the bakehouse. How do you see this happening, as I doubt a thrust doesn't accommodate such a large set piece. Also, I would love to see a production that breaks away from "the large ugly rotating ST box" which is only sometimes effective. How do you think this would be tackled here?
But again, this is really great!

It's a surprise! (But mind you, we HAVE figured it out).
Hint: it involves a creative re-staging, and the ctr. low platform is used as the barbershop with a stage trap, and bodies dropping from the ceiling elsewhere. Photos will come when the show gets produced...

*"I doubt a thrust would accommodate;" pardon my lack of re-reading...

Wow I love that Cat Walk and the stairs. The overall set gives off a really melencholy tone, very cool.

I love stairs! This theatre is all about actor safety, so I wouldn't dare try any crazy ladders or uncomfortable means to get up to that scaffold.

How far did the thrust extend? Is the audience sitting on all three sides? Are the steps off the thrust to another playing space or just entrances and exits?

Thrust extends past the proscenium at least 14' or so. Steps off the thrust go down to voms. The audience is on 3 sides of the stage. It is truly a full thrust, much of the musical will be done out on the apron.

Very cool. I'm working on a paper project now that has Sweeney Todd in a thrust stage. The big deal is where we source the sound too and where does one put the band?
Is this designed for a particular theatre space?

This is an actual theatre, the Theatre in Old Town, San Diego. It's a thrust space with some rather nasty support posts about midway upstage and an HIVAC duct that wraps just below the grid. Behind the set will be about 8' of depth and 24'-0" of width to place the band. We'll probably put some grates into the thrust to give the actors some monitors, and maybe there will be some front fills on the proscenium or some sort of speaker cluster out over the thrust.
