I think this piece is Fantastically, Fanatically, Fabulous !! The color
scheme and the distribution throughout the scene is perfectly
balanced. What I really like is there is no loss of definition nor
is there any distortion when seen at full view....it only gets
better. Β Β Β
Great job with this one, Alex!

Thank you very much! This is one of the pieces I am most proud of from my gallery. I spent a long time on the coloring on this one, as I do on many of my pieces. Anti-aliasing and high quality image format are contributing factors to the clarity you see. I also added a very minor hit of sharpness in post as well as adjusted some of the coloring levels that I couldn't get exact in Mandelbulb 3D.

Yes it is a very well thought out and well executed
deviation... you should be proud!! By the way, I took
your advice on that last tweak and rendered it in high
mode.... 1:3 to get that smooth look and even though
it took 5+ hours, I like it..... thanks again for the advice.

0.05 for Raystep is really unnecessarily low for any render, and 1:3 is overkill too I think! I used to use crazy high settings too, and my renders always took like 2-3 hours to render!
If you have the patience for it, I suppose it won't hurt any, but you can get the exact same quality using lighter settings.

Thank you, I wasn't sure so i went with it.Β
Trust me when I say, I will use the lower
ones from now on.Β
So a 1:2 ratio will get the same results?

Yup, you probably won't notice a difference between the two honestly, but it's up to you of course! Β

I think I'll take your advice on this...
I really don't love the idea of waiting
that long for a render if i can get the
same results faster....Thanks for the help.
Did I make this one look different enough? Β LOL....

Lovely! I really haven't understood amazingsurf very well yet, but doing this with just one formula is pretty cool!

Swoopswatkill In reply to Jojodyne [2014-11-16 20:55:32 +0000 UTC]
I never understood the darned formula myself up until probably a few months ago! Β Patience is of the utmost importance when dealing with this formula. The cool looking shapes are somewhat limited to a few certain kinds seeing how it's just another "Amazing" formula. For example, you can see all the "open" boxes in my above render. And I really like these shapes, so they are in quite a few of the renders that I have made even with other "Amazing" formulas! And thank you!

Cool! Thanks for the reply I do notice the few certain kinds of cool shapes keep popping up (Jorge is a great fan of them too). Always a pleasure to comment on your work
