Description
Link to the crowd-funding campaign chuffed.org/project/replicatin…Finally I'm able to disclose the project I've been working on for more than a year! A digital skeletal restoration of the Australia's largest dinosaur named Cooper. Right now Eromanga is starting a crowd-funding campaign which will help them to replicate the front and back Cooper's limbs in full size with 3D-printing and mount them at the museum. I am really proud to be a part of this project!
This is the result of intensive collaboration with Scott Hocknull from Queensland Museum and Robyn Mackenzie from Eromanga. A lot of hard work, restoration and modeling. Dozens of papers and hundreds of photos. Fresh experience, knowledge and new level of understanding of dinosaur anatomy for me. And about 100 subtools in Zbrush with 100 million polygons together. At the moment the skeleton model is 70% finished and I'm working on the tail and skull.
Each bone has been manually restored, sculpted, detailed, re-topologized and painted in Zbrush. The most part of the limbs and pelvis have been reconstructed from the real preserved Cooper's bones while for rest areas of the skeleton we used the data from other known Titanosaurs (and sometimes other Sauropods). 3D-scanning, diagrams, osteology papers and a lot of speculation. )) It will be great to see in future how close our assumptions were. )
Big thanks to Scott Hocknull for his help and patience and to Robyn Mackenzie for such an amazing project!
