It looks like when it walks it should be kicking up a little dirt behind it's feet. Other than that it's pretty cool

This is a gorgeous animation you have created! If the documentaries about dinosaurs took the time as you did on this to show how dinosaurs looked as if they were alive (Instead of making them move like stick figures,) that would be just lovely.

I wonder if you're looking to create a video game, or perhaps a movie? Either way, it would be gorgeous. c:

I'm working on a couple of games now but only as a freelancer. Of course it would be great to create my own game or movie but it needs a huge budget so it's not very simple . Maybe if I find some investors, I'll do it.

I'm sure Uber Entertainment would love to pay for it. They created:

Morrowind (Elder Scrolls)

Command and Conquer

Supreme Commander (1&2)

Planetary Annihilation

Monday Night Combat & Super Monday Night Combat

So they have a pretty rich history, and they're an Indie developer company, so you'll be more likely to get funding from them. They may even be obliged to help you create the game. c:

But what do I know?

This is really awesome. Nice texture and color. My only criticism, like llamaboy226, is that the movement isn't quite correct.  It also seems very bouncy. I thing adding the side sway would help this.

Swordlord3d In reply to MonicaOrange [2013-10-31 12:27:05 +0000 UTC]

There is an explanation below. This guy isn't a crocodile and his legs grow downward so it doesn't need to make the side-to-side movements. Thanks for the comment

llamaboy226 [2013-10-23 12:13:27 +0000 UTC]

The only criticism I have for this is that his body doesn't sway enough. When you look at alligators and crocodiles their side to side, s shaped movement is more exaggerated than this and when you're animating you should always take something to the extreme, to the point that it looks ridiculous, and then dial it back one notch. The rigging however is superb and everything else looks phenomenal. Was this key framed?

alligators and crocodiles have a different pelvis to saurosuchus, they are something called a Rauisuchia which basically means the family has shoulder joints that are in line with it's feet.
it's actually a more pillar ecert pelvic then humans and horses, so it wouldn't waddle and sway like a crocodile.
the creature animated is about 2.5 to 3 meters tall so it would walk more like a hippo than a crocodile.

i think the way the artists has really captured that difference and made it more accurate is fantastic,
it looks very realistic and i love the choice of colours and pattern on the model too.

I was thinking about its gait, too, and I think you're correct.  Wasn't this group of animals rather mammal-like in some of its anatomy?

Excellent animation!

needlesandfred In reply to MrGorgonchuk [2013-10-23 17:22:18 +0000 UTC]

they are in a way, but the shoulder is very narrow and connects differently upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia…

this shows how the pelvis is aligned as you can see it's not compatible with a waddling swaying movement at all.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=ej6DrF… if you look at how this hippo walks you can see they walk very gentaly for the weight and mass of the animal

In fact they sway the head up and down for balance and to shock absorb and the animation shows this too, it helps the animal balance and absorb the impact.

Thank you, I love dinosaurs and everything extinct!
i'm working on a project for my university course so i'm drawing dinosaur bones currently, the idea is so we can model them accurately,

unfortunately i'm no where near as talented as you at this yet.

I really love the texture and the muscles One thing I noticed was that there's almost no weight in his steps. The slight movement in his back and shoulders is very good, but I think there could be a little more of that and try to catch the feeling of weight.

the back leg looks a little wobbly when it steps down(although it may just be fat/skin wiggling) but other than that this is absolutely incredible! it's realistic and anatomically correct. great job. =u=
