Anatomy is scientifically correct.

I immediately notice that it moves its front legs first, meaning, front leg, then the back leg on the same side, instead of back leg, then the front leg on the same side, which is the basic method of locomotion for practically every tetrapod.

Any reason for this?

Yes, you're right. This is the mistake of animator. I had to control that.  This animal is very strange so that was difficult to see all the mistakes.

i love it. very fluid and natural. what animals did you use to reference it's movement?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Swordlord3d In reply to bLangston [2013-10-31 12:09:56 +0000 UTC]

That's difficult question because this guy looks like crocodile but has the mammal-like placement of legs. Moreover his back limbs are very strange and have almost human-structure. So that was an improvisation.

OMG AMAZING! T.V. worthy easily, I would just say that when he lifts his legs for the next step it is just a little to fast and "poppy". Not sure if you know what i mean but amazing regardless!

I love the detail put into this. Especially how the back leg muscles shake when it plants its foot.

very nice! the textures and colors are great as well as the anatomy of the thecodont. However I can't help but feel that the legs animation is a bit strange. In most tetrapods both legs of the same side of the body don't move together at the same time. Instead they follow this cycle: left forelimb. right hindlimb, right forelimb, left hindlimb. If that could be fixed, it will look even better than it does right now.

Is muscles kinda actually needed for the animation or like an inside reference? ,it looks pretty smooth too.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Swordlord3d In reply to deltari2 [2013-10-31 12:05:51 +0000 UTC]

CG-muscles affect the skin and work inside the model like real muscles.

Drakonial [2013-10-22 22:07:32 +0000 UTC]

This is amazing! In my opinion it could use a bit more sense of weight, after all this is a twenty foot long animal, but this is still incredible! It really looks like the walk of a living animal.

I think that the movement of the fingers (arms) doesn´t feel natural.

Привет Влад! Класный зух! Мне очень нравится. Только вод походка... попробуй добавить немного амплитудных движений в стороны как у крокодила.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Swordlord3d In reply to Plioart [2013-10-22 21:19:16 +0000 UTC]

Зачем? Это не крокодил. Крокодил изгибается при ходьбе из-за ног, растущих в стороны.

I think you could use a little bit more bounce and twist in the hips and shoulders, he;s got excellent tail and head and general leg locomotion but im not really feeling the immense weight of this guy
