Well done , but Allosaurus was smaller by just 1 meter .

Not really, the largest Allosaurus, which could also be argued as Saurophaganax, is 10.6 metres long along the centra and 3.7 tonnes in weight. The largest T. rex (Sue, FMNH PR 2081) was 12.3 metres long along the centra and 8.4 tonnes in weight. As itβs far taller, longer and wider. Some more βaverageβ specimens are significantly smaller. The T. rex βStanβ measures 11.3 metres and 6+ tonnes, CM 9380 at 11.9 metres and 7.6 tonnes, and AMNH 5027 at 11.8 metres and 6.85 tonnes. Allosaurus is usually regarded as having an average length of 8.5 metres, and therefore under two tonnes.
So Allosaurus on βaverageβ was 3.4 metres shorter and 3.8 times smaller...
While with the largest specimens it was a difference of 1.6 metres and 44% of the size.

Actually, it grew to over 5 meters/12 meters ( 6/14 meters for Tyrannosaurus.), which is known since this year.

...Please give me the name of such a specimen, itβs really not possible for a theropod to have a hip height of five metres. T. rex being 6 metres was an illusion created by the old βkangarooβ pose, the largest T. rex, Sue, is 3.45 to 3.73 metres tall at the hips, depending on the position of the legs.
Here -Β scotthartman.deviantart.com/arβ¦
How is a T. rex going to be 6 metres tall in a horizontal position? The legs arenβt too short, the femur, tibia, etc are all the accurate lengths. It may look that way because of the way the legs are posed, but theyβre about the same as this -Β www.deviantart.com/art/Tyrannoβ¦
There is no way for Allosaurus to be that tall, it wouldnβt have been that long, either. The largest specimen is around ~10.5 metres in length. The average specimen is much smaller.

Actually, it is possible:
www.csmonitor.com/Science/2016β¦
It's similar for Allosaurus, which I read in a magazine. 3-5 meters tall at the hips and 11- 12 meters long, which is just the average.

Nowhere in thatβs article does it state a height of 6 metres (20 feet) for T. rex, again, itβs an old estimate based on the old, upright pose -Β blog.everythingdinosaur.co.uk/β¦
This picture shows the holotype, a (fairly) large specimen, and even with the old pose, and near columnar legs, both of which would be impossible in life, it still doesnβt reach a height of 6 metres, even at the head. Everything in the picture is pretty much inaccurate, and favours a taller Tyrannosaurus, yet it still fails to produce such a figure.
Also, scientific papers, measurements and skeletons > magazine article.
scotthartman.deviantart.com/arβ¦
The top skeletal is βBig Al,β a specimen reaching about ~7.8 metres in length, and the larger skeletal, DINO 2560 (previously known as UUVP 6000), is an βaverageβ specimen of 8.6 metres and 2.1 tonnes.Β
Look at the scale bar, itβs one metre, that gives you an idea of how large the Allosaurus would have to be to reach that height. No Allosaurus would be over 15 metres in length, because thatβs around the size it would have to be to reach a hip height of five metres.

There are more articles that clearly state the hip height, which wasn't based on the old postures.
And some Allosaur specimens seemed to have grown to such a size.

TheBatmeme368 In reply to Phillip2001 [2018-01-16 22:59:48 +0000 UTC]
Yes, but scaling up from DINO 2560 would yield a length of over 15 metres for a hip height of 5 metres.
Please link these sources, and prove that they are recent, up to date, and represents actual specimens.Β

Great work here. Two predators, so alike, and yet, so very different. They have a similar outline, large head full of sharp teeth, short arms, tail, and long, bird-like legs, but the similarities end there. Tyrannosaurus has a wider skull with more powerful jaw muscles for crushing through solid bone, while Allosaurus would tear apart flesh with its narrower jaws. Tyrannosaurus was also much larger, and, of course they ate very different dinosaurs.

I'm assuming this is A. fragilis. Maximus and amplexus would be similarly sized or possibly bigger than rex as well as Das Monster von Minden and the unnamed Moroccan allosaur.
But great comparison!

Love these two together to compare and both are just awesome pieces of work. I think the Allosaur has a chance if they get into an arm wrestling match. Two predators with different eating mechanics (crushing vs. tearing) and probably different hunting techniques. If you look the two head on (like in a museum) the difference in the bulk of the skulls is amazing.

I actually wrote a paper where I compared the ecologies of these two dinosaurs next to a comparison of Komodo dragons and Saltwater crocodiles. The specifics of my analysis aren't really important, but I want to know: Are the proportions of these dinosaurs as accurate as the comments make them out to be? If so I would really like to use this image, because it has descriptive power that words do no justice. I would give you your due credit in the paper, of course.

The upper size range for Allosaurus is higher that the average for Tyrannosaurus and slighty smaller that the upper for Tyrannosaurus. However, when talking about averages, this seems about right. Allosauroids had quite huge size variation even in adults of the same population, while Tyrannosauroids were more constant.
In any case, I love this. To faves.
