Derrick H. = Slashes Dad? Lol I hope he doesn't go far because he looks like a discount character from Sonic forces. Though if he makes the family visit and Slash is his relative, and the two have a boring meet up it might actually be kind of worth it to me...eh who am I kidding get rid of his polo shirt wearing ass.
Jahira = Kind of hoping she'd be like Montana if Montana actually was actively playing to win.
Jeannie = Oh she is just a precious little bubbly girl. I can see her being a surprise mastermind by using her Genie side to get people to follow her lead. I do kind of hope she doesn't win since we've had some pretty positive female winners recently so I'm kind of hoping for a final boot legend.
Jenny = Interesting idea for a character, she could have a slight chip on her shoulder, but I get early elimination vibes from her. Eh, Don't hate her or like her, but I am looking forward to whatever happens.

Derrick The Hedgehog: Dad the Hedgehog? that's actually pretty original. I think he can go far by being a father figure to the younger guys, and being undersestimated because of his age.
Jahira: 50/50 on this one. Could do well if she keeps her emotions under check, otherwise will go out very quick. I hope she does well though.
Jeannie: Who's gonna be the Arnold this season and abuse the fuck outta magic? you all know it's coming. I think whe goes out arund the merge because of her magic being a massive threat.
Jenny: Ugh, making your fan character a family member of a canon is..lame. Will dominate the meathead tribe strategy wise, and probably goes the farthest of all of them.

actually as her creator i can tell you Jeanie was inspired by Shantae and the genie voiced by Robin Williams
it's just Djinn is the PROPER name for a Genie, but Genie is a wider known term so i've kinda come to think of Genies as a subspecies of Djinn

Hey, I was born in 1991, so I'm the same as you! But I ended up watching a lot of those older shows that my mother always put on. So that's how I knew it, and that's why I was bringing it up. But, yeah, I know what Shantae is, too. And Aladdin. I know them all. Either way, it's cool.

Well, she looks like it. Not like it really matters anyway. I'm just going off what I've seen in past seasons and how players of color tend to act. Whatever she is, I like her. I was just making my own observation.

I mean granted most Hedgehog characters TEND to look alike in someway, unless you get a weird cross, like Hedgechinda, Hedgefox, Hedgeodile or some other weird combo

Well, that's true enough...unless you just completely alter what they look like so much that they don't even LOOK like a hedgehog...which kinda ruins the whole purpose. So, it doesn't matter much. I just thought he looked like a few others I've seen before. Nothing bad about that.

Yeah...and it's not really something I agree with. It just kinda bugs me. It's like one of the millions of kids that are created between Sonic and Amy, or Rouge and Shadow, or other pairs. It's not really something I like. But...well, I'll just try not to think about it too much.

Derrick the Hedgehog: I have to say, not a bad character, a parent figure is always pretty good for Survivor... though I don't know how good he'll do. After all, we did recently have Doris... so he could go either way. I don't think I need to say anything about Sonic the Hedgehog, since EVERYBODY and THEIR PARENTS have played the games, watched the cartoons, read the comics, et cetera, et cetera.
Jahira: A girl prone to emotions, huh? I don't know, maybe she'll be interesting? As for her node... I have never heard of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. But looking it up, it's a romantic musical comedy-drama series on the CW? Er... I'll have to watch a few episodes, but I want to get the general feel first. I love musicals, so maybe this'll be up my alley.
Jeannie: A genie named Jeannie... not as clever, since there is someone with a similar name from an old television sitcom in the sixties... but still, she's pretty cute, I guess. I'll keep my eye on her. As for Shantae, I've never played the games, but I hear they're pretty interesting.
Jenny Wily: And that is Akumath's second fan character in the series... and one of his more well-known ones as well. Knowing her, she's going to be pretty smart and clever in this tribe! Definitely will have my eye on her, for sure! As for Megaman, played a couple of games, not bad at all.

I haven't seen ALL the chars yet, but I already LOVE Jeanie. She's my pre-season fave going into this. X3
I just hope she does better than most of my pre-season faves of the past few seasons I still HAD pre-season faves...and ALSO hope she doesn't get stiffed the way Taro did when his story just got COMPLETELY mishandled despite otherwise being one of my pre-season faves there. It'd be a LOT to ask from SWSU, but if he can handle Jeanie's story WELL, maybe there's some hope yet. At the very least, the penchant for mischief SHOULD be up SWSU's alley, so maybe we can hope THAT part will turn out ok.

Well all sarcasm aside, I never want to have to lower my expectations to a point it's not worth the time to come out here. What fun is that if I have to lower expectations to a point they're non-existent and not worth the effort? If I was to do that, I wouldn't be here. Besides, I'm not even rolling the dice on this season with any chars of my own this season, so not like I can pay any real price in any personal form.
Still, I hope you'll be nicer to Jeanie than you ever were to any of MY chars. It may be too late for any chars I ever tried to enter with to undo any poor treatment they got, but Jeanie REALLY doesn't seem like the type to deserve a BLATANT shafting story-wise in favor of someone unlikable or just overall underwhelming. Even if your decision making usually DOESN'T consider any one person's decision making and indeed Jeanie ISN'T mine, I'll feel REALLY sorry for whoever DOES own Jeanie if things go south for her because of someone lame getting one over her.
Also to anyone who says otherwise or thinks I'm over-reacting, JEANIE'S TOO PURE FOR A CYNICAL GAME LIKE THIS! T3T

T3T ...even despite all the trouble a Djinn could cause in mythology or whatever, I would prefer THAT to some of the TRULY lame stuff chars like Jackie and Angel have used to win their seasons and shaft a lot of better chars in the same seasons they won. It's just a level of horror show I'm not sure whoever made Jeanie (assuming it's NOT you) knows can happen. I guess I won't draw further conclusions until I see the rest of the cast, but that'd just be insulting to one of my absolute fave chars I've seen in SFC in a VERY long time (ESPECIALLY more impressive if she's not even owned by you) get picked off by something that's somehow LAMER than the likes of Jackie and Angel's gameplay styles. I know Djinns have a penchant for mischief, but I STILL don't feel Jeanie knows what she signed up for.

Ok, on that last one, I wasn't being 100% serious, in case the fact I called Jeanie "too pure for SFC" was somehow seen as anything but as ridiculous as it should sound. In all seriousness though, I REALLY am hoping Jeanie doesn't fall victim to anything TRULY lame. That happens WAY too often any time I pegged chars as pre-season faves in recent years, so I may have exaggerated, but the concern IS still there.

I don't have any chars of my own in this season, not even in even a CAMEO, so got no outright personal stakes in this. However, unlike most chars of recent years in SFC that I didn't own, let's just say Jeanie's one of the few that I still honestly feel like she has a charm that ISN'T just constrained to SFC-only stuff, meaning if she's an applicant that's WAY more impressive than anything I usually see from applicants. While Djinn-based powers would FORCE a nerf to almost certainly occur with SFC-based rules, I'm hoping the kind of chars I'd RATHER see in SFC compared to what I usually get in SFC will finally get their day.
Alas, there's plenty of stuff I CAN'T explain here because it's likely irrelevant to the story Jeanie will get here, but let's just say I have stuff in Shantae-based RPs that work very well with Jeanie...and be more of the kind of thing she's more prepared to deal with than whatever SFC may try to trip her up with. Ask me about that outside of DA if you want, but won't say much more here. Already said plenty as is.

Jenny is probs my favorite contestant revealed yet. Her design is fun but simplistic and her dynamic seems like the one I'll be the most entertained by/invested in.
