Lowering my expectations because I'm hearing that Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon has been jumping the shark...
But lower expectations probably mean better actual seasons, so hoping for the best
(Also I can't be the only person who thinks the Tribal Council set hurts my eyes )

It's starting! Again!
Another season without being chosen...well, it's bound to be fun anyway, so let's enjoy the ride!
Four tribes huh? Looking at how they're divided in a particular gameplay, one is bound to be a trainwreck (leaders or beasts. more likely) so they better learn to adapt if they want to survive until the switch.
PD: Is the TC in Ultra Megalopolis? That place sure bring memories. Sure, it's frustrating ones, but memories nevertheless.

Sun and Moon are actually the first and only Pokemon games I've played (though have yet to beat them, got major stuck on the Ghost trial) so I'm really excited to see Alola as the region choice. Will save character thoughts for cast releases except I think the Genie girl has potential to be a really interesting character especially if other castaways try to use her wish granting ability.

This'll be really interesting! Especially with followers and leaders being on their own.
Followers need someone to emerge as the leaders, and some of the big personalities on the leaders tribe will need to control their ego and let others take the reins. The tininess of the Pikmin FC SHOULD give him an advantage (that is if he doesn't screw it up...).Β
I'm thinking the powerhouses will be similar to the Supers in 15, starting off well, but crumbling during swaps and merges.
And very appropriatley, the wildcards will be random as ever lmfao vamos a ver cΓ³mo harΓ‘n...
Anyways, can't wait, love that you're going to Alola!

Alola, huh? Well I like the 7th Gen Pokemon games, so this should be visually appealing to look at. Alas I need to see a cast preview to get a further look at what to expect.
I already LOVE the genie girl going forward into this respective pre-season, but I just hope even though she's not mine, she has better luck than most of my more recent-era pre-season faves. For whatever reason, no matter how it goes, RARELY does my pre-season fave in any recent season I've ever had one in mind do well. I think even on the one pre-season fave I had in recent years who eventually won, Taro, the handling of his story was still flawed and far from what I would've liked to see with him and thus seems to be among many reasons SFC15 didn't turn out as I hoped (or how most people hoped from what I hear, putting SFC15 with SFC12 with recent-era seasons that just under-performed across ALL boards I'm aware of).
Here's to hoping the Alola-unique aspects possible in SFC17 are more than just a fancy cosmetic effect and WILL impact the way the game is played this time. While I liked the usage of the Mushroom Kingdom back in SFC16, I couldn't shake the feeling it felt like nothing more than an over-glorified backdrop in the grand scheme of things. I hope SWSU will be able to do with the Alola region what he didn't fully take advantage of with the Mushroom Kingdom.
In general, the visual effects certainly get better in recent SFC seasons, but I've not always felt the story-telling aspects have been consistent in the same way between seasons people overall didn't like including myself (SFC12 and SFC15 are the ones I've generally heard fall into this even after their initial runs), seasons I felt were ruined by endings I didn't find satisfying (SFC11 despite the fact I liked most of the season besides the ending, which is a shame. A season filled with stars and the dud won...sounds like what happened with Big Brother 15 and Big Brother 17), and then just generally seasons I don't love for other reasons despite being popular (SFC13 for people who know my opinions beforehand and now SFC16, both cases I'd rather not go into now lest it spoil the mood for 2018 in general I DESPERATELY need to set the proper tone for).
I'm still skeptical as to if the intended story-line I'm supposed to identify with down the road will improve the issues I've had in recent years, but the visuals certainly look stunning at least as I said before. I just hope after how the recent seasons have more often than not left me feeling like I'm on the wrong side of popular opinion for one reason or another, there might be some relief in sight finally. I'm keeping my expectations low on that front, since Survivor-based expectations in this circle seem to take priority over what I feel makes more general good story-telling. At the very least, SWSU tries to avoid doing things truly wrong in SFC. I just also feel his avoidance of doing things wrong in the most recent couple of years also keeps him surprisingly timid on the story-telling front and tends to in four of the recent six seasons favor more defensive or even passive game-play than anything with true initiative. That can't be ALL people want from him, can it?

Thank you for all of that, professor.
Also, to one of your last points...I kinda agree. SWSU does tend to err on the side of caution when it comes to story elements...at least if it involves applicant characters. As seen with Riley, Bowser Jr., and Damon/Angelo, and characters like that from last season, he tends to go all-out because they're his own characters (or a canon). But when they're applicants, he tends to be slightly more timid, since he doesn't want to upset said creators. For me, I'd just go all-out with ALL the characters, regardless who owns them, and if they get mad...so be it. But, hey, we'll just have to see what happens.

"For me, I'd just go all-out with ALL the characters, regardless who owns them, and if they get mad...so be it.Β " - it's funny when it's said by person known for throwing biggest tantrum against SWSU for "doing your character wrong".

First of all, that was 5 years ago; is there a reason why my past keeps being brought up? Please focus on the now, not the then. Second, I was never mad with how she was portrayed or used; I was mad with the story that she was put into and those around her.Β

Yes. SFC11 came out in 2013, and it's now 2018. And all of that drama happened during that season.Β

Admittedly, while I'm still trying to experiment to see if I have ANY way of writing something different with an easily stagnant formula to call my own story, the fact applicants ARE part of the reason SWSU goes more timid would likely result in three things from me if anything comes through on the writing side of things:
>1).I would likely NOT use applicants for that reason, that they're often characters I have NO idea how to write for on a blind pick and I would NOT want to be rendered timid on any stories I try to write.
>2).In the unlikely event I DID take applicants, it'd more likely be from people who KNOW my writing style and I know as well, which wouldn't likely be enough to fill the half and half ratio SWSU uses in most seasons if I DID do that unless I got VERY lucky.
>3).In the MORE unlikely event I WOULD use applicants from strangers, I might not be as kind to applicants if I'm genuinely not impressed with them NOR would I coddle applicants the same way SWSU does. I guess that's why the first option I listed is the most likely way I would handle applicant input, being I wouldn't accept full-fledged applicants on a blind pick most of the time.
So yeah, that may make me sound cruel, but it would probs be for the best most of the time for everyone's sake. Of course, there's a lot of other bug-testing I'd still have to do with this kind of formula in general and it's why I've dropped drafts I've attempted to write before before, since they often end up not holding up after I initially start something due to either a change in my OWN mindset or a change in the mindset of the readers in question I'm expecting.

Daw, thanks. Yeah, I just said a lot because I have not thrown my hat into the ring on this in a while and if there's anyone new joining the SFC circle for the first time, they might not even be familiar with what I'm saying. May seem like a lot, but consider it me covering my bases.
In short, what I was saying was how I'd handle applicants if I was in SWSU's shoes instead. That's really all it was. I'm fine otherwise, just saying how I'd do things if I was in the same shoes as SWSU. If I wasn't feeling calm, believe me when I said I wouldn't have even thrown my hat in the ring on this topic again.
