Description
As stated in the previous submission , was inspired by the stellar work of ZVitor , so tried my hand at making sprites in the classic SNES-esque 16-bit style.It's funny how, like his enemy Aquaman, Black Manta has gone from joke to serious badass. Well, technically, he had to go a lot longer than Arthur to finally get someone who gave enough of a shit to handle him well. The mid-90's really didn't do this guy any favors with the bizarre 'Underworld Unleashed' event that left him as a literal human-manta hybrid.
Anyway, he's since (from 2003-onward) become one of the DC Universe's more brutal bastards... and more than a bit bloodthirsty.
Mainly just a test to see if I could make a sprite based on him. Then, in a surprising turn of events, found myself making more poses!
Used the 'Justice League Task Force' (SNES version) Aquaman's body as base, took the arms from the mini-sentinels from the X-Men arcade game, the knives originally belonged to enemies Mary & Eliza from the SNES game 'Final Fight 2', and the helmet started life as the helmet from the 'Elite Ptolemaic' soldier from 'Metal Slug 5'.
