I don't think North Blue is cold all over, it's a vast ocean, there can be colder parts and warmer parts~ So in this pic they're indeed in North Blue, on a big ship that both Sanji's parents work on.

I'm happy my headcanon makes sense for more than just myself :3

Ah, you're probably right.
So if Sanji's parents work on a ship.. then why would they send him away to work on the Orbit? And why wouldn't he try to return to them?
In my head they must've died, or he didn't know them... :S

They sent him to be an apprentice on another ship for what was supposed to be at most a year. Gotta build character away from the parents sometimes (pretty young for that but it's OP, weirder stuff has happened <_<). And well, in the meantime little Sanji found his calling as a cook, decided he wanted All Blue more than anything, went through the whole starving thing and decided he owed Zeff so much he had to stay with him in East Blue. His parents only heard about what happened to the Orbit, so they think their son died... And yes, Sanji is really mean in this story for not sending a letter or something and letting them believe that. He should know better. I'm thinking his wanted poster will get to them eventually.

I see... well,I *guess* it kinda makes sense... That's pretty tragic about his parents thinking he died on the Orbit! But wouldn't they try to come looking for him, if they lived on a ship? Or were they not very close to their son? And I just can't imagine Sanji as someone who'd forget his parents completely.. especially if he had a mother. A *lady*!

Sorry! I seem to be picking apart your headcannon! Apologies! I'm just curious - personally I never imagined Sanji to have parents who actually were together and happy, so seeing this picture has been interesting and new for me!

Haha I don't mind the picking apart thing, it gives me an outlet to talk about it more at lenght X3 And if you don't agree with it then, that's okay too, it's nice if there're different theories out there~

Now, Sanji's parents can't really go look for him if they think he died, can they? (and it's not like they can decide where the ship they're on goes, they're just workers on it) They were quite devastated when they learned what happened to the Orbit and that no survivor was found (btw, I still can't decide if that happened in North or east Blue, damn Oda for not being clear on that)
I do agree that Sanji not giving sign of life, even after a while when he and Zeff are settled on the Baratie, is kind of a stretch :s I'm sure he didn't forget about them though. Maybe like an idiot little kid he's afraid that his decision to stay with Zeff/go after All Blue/become a pirate will make them angry/disappointed so he prefer not saying anything? Something like that.

Oh.. I didn't realise that they didn't *own* the ship ... but wait, this is their only son we're talking about. If they were so close-knit as a family, wouldn't they just drop their jobs aboard the ship and set off to find him (in like, a little fishing boat or something?!) rather than just keep working?
But, in writing this I guess they wouldn't actually know where to look... (The Orbit event occured in East Blue, I'm sure) and also, on the other end, if his parents did indeed live on a ship somewhere I guess Sanji wouldn't really know where to send a letter..
HANG ON. I just realised. Yes he would. He would send it to that ship. Because this is the OP world, and those Letter- Delivery- Bird things fly around to ships and deliver newspapers to Nami.
Oh.. so confusing. Sorry.. not sure if it makes any sense. I wrote thoughts as they came!

They'd certainly look for him if they had even a hint that he was still alive, which they don't... Until maybe years later if they see his bounty poster. Then they could send him a letter on the Sunny (those delivery birds really are convenient X3)

*sigh* I suppose you're right... although he never looks like his bounty poster, so I don't know if anyone would really recognise him by it.
Or OH! Suppose they randomly visited the Baratie just because they were in the area. Now wouldn't that be an interesting encounter?

Well, there couldn't be that many Sanji with a curled eyebrow in the world, even if the portrait is shit, that much is accurate at least X3 (and you know he does get recognised anyway, everything to piss him off more)
I'm sure it could be interesting if they met Zeff after Sanji was gone, they'd be so grateful to him. But they'd have to travel to East Blue for that... But then Sanji did it before... (how do ships go from one Blue to another without passing by Grand Line anyway? I'm still waiting for an answer to that...) I like this idea you had~

I dunno, I'd imagine Zeff wouldn't think too highly of Sanji's parents.. seeing as he did all the hard work through all the 'unstable' years of adolescence. Perhaps he'd be quite possessive of his 'son'.
And ships going from one Blue to another... hm.. I'd never really thought about that. Well, um... y'see.. the Grand Line... uh.. hm. I suppose that'd be a good question to ask Oda.. if we could ever find the address to send questions to.

Well my headcanon is something along the lines of Zoro not really knowing his parents, but that's just what I thought would be best. I don't have headcanon for Sanji. (This might have to become a part of it XD)

And I have to wonder... what would their parents think of how them now, being infamous, strong pirates and all? X3 Will they ever manage to reunite, somehow? (Zoro getting lost trying to go somewhere ELSE, and finally stumbles back upon home? Oh I like that someone spotted that~ I would say those are two unrelated universes. The one with the graves only exists because I was grasping at any ideas for the theme at the time. The happy past on a ship with his parents is the one I want to believe in.
