Description This is something I cooked up for this video  .  It's meant to be an androgynous figure but it seems a bit too masculine...  I figure there are probably anatomy mistakes, since I did this from imagination, and purposely didn't use ref cuz I wanted to show the figure I actually use in my drawings and not something that has a lot of info I don't actually use.  Maybe it's a dumb idea though...  lol  Hope it helps someone out there.

Hey Sycra, im gonna say thanks a lot for making this diagram!

Actually i already saw this like years ago, but at that time i never actually learn anatomy yet, so i dont really understand anything, like i dont really know why the legs/arm/torso/head could be simplified into that shape, and what muscle are grouped within dat section, also what makes those flows.
But really looking at this diagram at the first time really give me courage to do figure drawing!

Now years later after i study anatomy from several sources, especially from proko videos about anatomy and do a lil bit grind for it so i have a better understanding for anatomy, looking back at this simplified diagram really helps a lot!
After learning the individual muscle and stuff actually im a bit overwhelmed like how to simplify em based on its function and movement
And this simplified model help me in solving that problem!
You even draw the bone diagram which is suitable for the bony landmarks as well, which is very awesome!

Thanks again for making this diagram!
Love ya

I love this!! Is there one to help drawing animals?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

seionara In reply to negleyjl08 [2017-07-24 16:14:22 +0000 UTC]

No, there would have to be many as there are many species of animal but you can still apply the same principle, look for muscle groups that you can simplify and look how they connect, draw some for reference to get how the animal moves, try constructing some yourself to see if it works and fix what mistakes you may have made.
Oh, and if you want cats, sphinxes are your friend.

Dude no, not a dumb idea, this is an amazing way to picture the human figure, breaking components into huge planes to remember where all the most important edges are, it's pretty cool, might even be of immediate use to me, I'll have to try it.

When I first looked at this I thought it was the anatomy for the female with the way you did the pelvic arch pushing forward and shoulders pushed so far back for the side view.

I admit I need to learn how to see inside the form to show off the muscles of the body and this will surely help.

Arms seem a bit long on this one, not that it's impossible for a person to have arms like that but they are going all the way to the knees. I'm not an expert in drawing and still learning (slowly) but if I stand up and put my arms down they do not go that far, and I have pretty long arms xD. I guess this is stylized though knees are also a bit high so idk.

I think this was a good idea. Like when you did that turn-around, I think it consolidates all the angles into one form.
