Figured I was far enough along on this to post some WiP shots over here. This is the Sith Interdictor Cruiser "Leviathan" from Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Just finished up the command super structure.

Currently in the 700k-800k poly range. Rest of the ship still needs doing

Modeled in 3ds Max 2009, rendered with VRay.

Ongoing WiP thread over at SciFi-Meshes: [link]

Download recommended to get the full massive size that properly shows all the detail.

No worries, I'm considering making a walkthrough, although I'm hardly an expert on texturing, this was the most complex texture i've made yet and there's lots of strange warps and errors when you look closely.

Maybe the next time.

Let me know how your procedural textures work out.

Just quickly adjusting the main values to be like yours is looking pretty good. Still need to experiment more to get the other, less shiny areas looking good. Its definitely in the ballpark now though, which is the main thing. You probably saved me a significant amount of time having to experiment with things.

Well alot of it is in the lighting and hdri maps, it'll take you some time to find decent sets (if you have any good patchs let me know!!)

Also, it's also a good idea to keep a contrast between shiny and none shiny bits, I find it keeps things interesting. Anyway, I really like the greebling in this, I can see some of fractals been rubbing off on you!

Thank you. And the best way to get better at Max is to use it, I've gotten a ton better just from this project itself, so keep at it!
