Description
"Would thy mind...ah, clearing the way?"In a subterranean ecosystem filled with ferocious flesh eating reptiles, large insatiable Wyrms and colossal rats, few would ever suspect something as mundane and life giving as a plant. Yet, within the Depths lurks a species of flower feared by many for its horrid habits. The Raffegonia, or Flesh Stench Flower, is a parasitic flower that uses its roots to tangle and ensnare hosts, be they living or dead. The roots then enslave and puppet the host while simultaneously draining them of vital nutrients to sustain the plant. Once the host begins to deteriorate, the Raffegonia uses its puppet to seek out more prey, feasting on them and adding said prey's flesh and bones to their puppet. It is said that the Ancient Alexandrians actually had a semi symbiotic relationship with the Raffegonia, feeding some of their dead to the plants in return for harvesting their poison or even utilizing the plants as guardians.
Here we have another natural denizen of the Depths, the Plant Guardian. These would be another sort of "flavor enemy" adding more life and lore to the world while bringing some extra variety to the enemy roster. They would be rather simple to slay, but irritating if given the chance to strike as they fire poisonous projectiles and can cause bleed with their vines. Their would be an optional dungeon here involving a questline which if you delve into will require you to burn through the roots and vines of a particularly large specimen before engaging it in a mini boss fight.
They are encountered in Old Alexandria, Underhalls and Castle Dungeon.
