Is that one of those satellite galaxies that orbit that larger main galaxies? Cause it looks fairly small for a galaxy. But sweet photo anyways.

Nice to know you're still out there! Great work! Do you enable Mirror Lock-up and Long exposure noise reduction?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sylours In reply to Astronomers [2007-01-19 10:55:35 +0000 UTC]

thank you, I don't block the mirror and I don't use the reducer of noise.

Personally with your camera I would be doing that just for a better image. Do you mind if I explain long exposure noise reduction? Also how to enable both? I'm sure you'll be able to figure it out eitherway

Sylours In reply to Astronomers [2007-01-23 10:59:12 +0000 UTC]

yes, explain please

Astronomers In reply to Sylours [2007-01-25 01:31:12 +0000 UTC]

Okay in the menu of most digital SLR's there is an option for "Custom Functions" Change the options so long exposure noise reduction and mirror lock-up are enabled. If you don't have long exposure noise reduction on your digital camera you can take the same exposure length as the previous image (best effective if taken right after AND with the lens cap ON) this way noise from heat playing on the CMOS unit shows up and can be removed from the image. I'm sure you know how to layer astrophotography so I won't go there...
