Various civilizations that managed to catch a glimpse of the leviathan bestowed him countless titles such as the Bringer of Balance and the God of the Hopeless Future.

To the people of Odo Island, he was a God Incarnate.

To the rest of the world following his arrival in 1954, he was simply Gojira, King of Destruction.

The first known S-Class Gigafauna specimen, or Kaiju for simpler terms, discovered by Monarch, Gojira was the turning point in humankind when they learned that they were merely placeholders to those who came before them. Original sightings of him dated back as far as 1945 following the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It wasn't until 1953 when the crew of a fishing vessel off the coast of Odo Island reported a sighting of Gojira that they finally proved the existence of the Kaiju to their superiors.

Unsurprisingly, panic ensued with this revelation and hastily, the U.N. ordered for Gojira's extermination. Thus began Operation: Castle, where they deployed half-a-dozen hydrogen bombs with the hope of killing Gojira. Months passed following the nuclear tests and many believed he perished in the atomic detonations.

At least, that's how it seemed until November 3, 1954, when he emerged from Sagami Bay off the coast of Kamakura city. He began a campaign to drive all of humanity to extinction for the destruction of his home and the deaths of his pod within Bikini Atoll. Over the span of a single night, nearly all of Tokyo was turned into a blazing sea of atomic fire.

Ishiro's grandfather, Daisuke Serizawa, soon released the Oxygen Destroyer to kill Gojira and himself, preventing is invention from ever being turned into something far worse than even a hydrogen bomb.

Gojira might've died that night, but his legacy will forever last as the first Daikaiju attack in Earth's history. His death soon caused countless others to awaken, beginning a time simply known as the 'Great Awakening.'
