Photoshop and lots of practice, its rather hard to just state which techniques were used, there are too many. I have a resource folder in my gallery with a brief nebula tutorial.

The hardest thing to keep track of in the universe is the universe itself.
There's so many of these spacescapes and planets that are spellbinding I can't ignore them.
I just HAVE to favorite all of them! Including yours, damn it!
Keep up with the mesmerizing work, damn it!

I thought this was a Hubble at first... VERY excellent attention to detail.
What's most amazing is that there's no way to say this doesn't exist just as you painted it, somewhere out there... so the title is very well fitting.
