Description After days and days of messing around with that little chipped planet... I came up with this scene. I like the calm empty feel... as I hope you will too.. I think its my cleanest so far. You should get up close to your screen for better detail, if you're like me and have horrible vision... sorry for the size.. ha

The damaged planet is closer than the large planet... hence the detail/sharpness...the bigger one is like 10x earth

I litterally worked on and off with this for 2-3 weeks... so its not even new really... I have a shitload of other things going (yes, the tutorial too), so stay tuned for a few more submissions

EDIT: Changed the view

Greets

btw this is the funniest emoticon

Ooh...interesting...it's like it's part of a war or something. The planet was just a victim of the war. Great job...it's stunning!

This looks fantastic.

The exploding planet is very detailed, with a huge amount of small particles. I wonder how much work you had...

Superb work

Looks good man, I like the faint nebula in the background. That's one thing I've never fully been able to get just right.

How is the tutorial coming along anyways? Percentage wise?

I like this piece.

Love how you did the exploded planet. How'd you do it. Is it a 3D model?

synax444 In reply to N3UR0N [2008-08-02 05:17:09 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm... I'd say a little over half done

Thanks man

Wow... the exploded planet... toughest thing I've ever done in photoshop so far... I used the lasso tool to sellect chunks of the planet... then erased gradually as my selection got smaller, and it created a sort of bevel 3d broken look, its hard to explain really... then i used color dodge layers of bright apo flames for the fiery red look... which was hard to get also... it was really tough but maybe I'll do a small tut on that aswell... as soon as I get more spare time of course Ah sorry for the long comment!

Nice colours and lighting
