Is that a black whole swallowing up another sun... hence dying suns?
Or is that a galaxy in the distance with a planet and a sun close by?

What's that? Looks like a quasar or something. (lol I already made a similar comment a while ago)
The texture on the close planet is neat.Β

Hmm... and then a black hole is created?

A black hole and a new star This picture can dipict both. Its a giant cycle of dust and gas twisting into form, gaining density, and when it finally finishes it implodes into a new star

Nice! As long as it looks cool, right?

Looks more like the birth of a star system, when the sun is accreting matter in a disc like that. Those darkish clouds would later form planets. Very nice nonetheless.

How did you go about making the blackhole the sun's falling into?

Wow that's super-I really feel the scale here.
Only thing I think needs a bit of revision is the sun's flares.

Keep rolling! Extremely good work. Monocolour works well and details are pleasently sufficent

Haha well it's nice, has this effect of seeming really close which is a nice change, like you're viewing this right up close to the planet and the suns. And yeah, it doesn't look like a galaxy - more like a binary star, one large one with a massive dust ring with a smaller one undergoing dissolution under its massive gravitational attraction. Liking the minimal painterly starfield here too. Wouldn't bother changing anything.

In spite of it being a dying star, it actually looks nice and calm, you made a horrible event look beautyful

I suggest using bump mapping, it looks like a paper.
