Hey, Beatles again!

More portrait practice. This time considerably harder: so many highlights, so many details, a very bright photo with lots of contrast. Here's the original: in my stash. It was taken a year or two later (I think) during a trip to Milan. Lennon's in his "Fat Elvis" period, anyway; his body language is so insecure, poor guy.

And I got to do hands. I love hands. People are always saying, "Oo, hands are so hard to draw!" and I'm like "That's what makes them AWESOME!" The hair was considerably harder this time, between the sun's glare and the wind blowing it all over the place. (Except for McCartney, who apparently had helmet hair.) Again, I love picking up details about a photo when I make it into a portrait. I didn't realize until I got to him that Harrison is nudging McCartney with his elbow - y'know, *wink*wink*nudge*nudge*. And now when I see pictures of Ringo taken around this time, I recognize his watch. "It's the same watch! I drew that watch!"

I cheated a little on the background. It's been smudged with the knife tool. It's just such a nice effect! The rest is marker, and the whole thing was done in ArtRage 4.
