I see it in a way where
ANTHRO is just the drawing of animals with human features (or vice versa)
but
FURRY is a bit more... erm... yea. I think u get it. SO there is a difference in my book.
But to some theyre the same. I think that everybody has different views.

I have nothing wrong with cute animal characters, and anthropomorphic animals make great fantasy villains or characters, but the other sides of it that some people have are, not for me. I am passionate about zoology and evolution, and to sexualise something like that would detract from it for me at least, I put my interests on a pedestal, sexual stuff is just...utilitarian...

I agree completely. I draw anthros sometimes but I do it for fun and to try new styles, not to draw sexual stuff. SO I just draw anthros as animals with human features and get on with life xD ^^ See: [link] [link]

well this is what people tell me, but I suspect that people who draw them in sexual imagery are fetishists as well as fans, it's not difficult to figure out.

well there are those who do it for fetish, but it's like creating a different persona for most people and well..you can do so much more when you can be something you want if you're not satisfied with the way you are in real life

I understand theres that side to it, people make internet personas based around things other than animals too, people create characters, cosplay as their own characters, etc. I guess its multi-faceted, like most fandoms.

Think of it, Furries are humans but with fur and and well, over all look different, they have those basic human needs like anyone else, some just take it to a whole new ballgame than some. Also between Zan and her lover, its more of an affectionate thing, not the common one night stand you may see in some furry pictures among most sites, which bothers me and really perturbs me, honestly wouldn't have a problem about it if it wasn't the only thing I seem to run into about the furry fandom.

Yeah. so I assume that it has a spectrum, with fandom and anthro on one end and furry porn on the other, and all things inbetween...
I understand this sort of spectrum, because I myself have a fetish (a different one), and it's not always really fetishistic, just a way of portraying things.

Mhmm quite, there is a dark side to everything. But I'm glad you asked, I like clearing up a troubling subject. But yes I understand, everyone has their 'kinks' and 'fetishes' I really don't see any reason why people judge others on it, to each their own.

Well, I found furry unsettling more at first, because I am an amateur zoologist and a major zoology, paleontology, and animal nerd. I have no attraction to animals, simply a very keen interest, passion in the intellectual, not pyhsical sense. So I found it strange that people could have that sort of connection to animals, because I never did. My fetish is just as weird though, perhaps a tiny bit easier to relate to, but still weird.

It's more of a hobby, I chose art and illustration to study, so I could draw creatures of all sorts, my chemistry, physics, geology, math etc skills are abit too weak to do paleontology at college. I collect fossils, too.
