Hello everyone!

After going on a nostalgia trip looking at some classic creepypastas, I wanted to draw something spooky. I happened to stumble across an amazing Sonic.EXE song created by "longestsoloever" on YT and was inspired to draw the funny hedgehog himself.

Not much to say here- If you were active on the internet during the early 2010's, you might've heard of this demonic Sonic clone that decided to do his best impression of Flippy from HTF, brutally murder his friends in ways that make Sub-Zero's fatality look like a saturday-morning cartoon and then you spent a couple nights terrified of him (or his fangirls).

Now.. before I start rambling:

1-Sorry if .EXE looks weird, I'm not that good at drawing Sonic lol-

2-I heard there was some controversy about the original creator of .EXE, "JC the Hyena" deciding that living like a normal person was too hard and becoming a pedo.. But we're just here to talk about some spooky stories. This isn't related to the drama at all.

This drawing's purpose is to honor the memories, sleepless nights and the fandom that were built around this classic creepypasta. Nothing more, nothing less.

Now that that's out of the way, Sonic.EXE is very unique in the way that it's a horrible creepypasta that should have failed completely, but was ultimately saved by it's rapidly growing fandom.

I'm gonna ramble a lot so feel free to skip this! Without further ado, let's rant boisss

The original .EXE creepypasta was... bad. Like really bad.

If you didn't read it, it's basically the most comical tale ever. Guy gets a 2spooky4me untitled Sonic game and is told to nuke it from orbit by his friend because it's dangerous. The author, having 999 IQ, decides NOT to follow his friend's advice and just play the game instead.

Hilarity ensues as Sonic le hedgehog brutally eviscerates the entire cast and claims that he is gawd. It even has a cheesy ending where a bloody Sonic doll appears on the main character's bed for no dang reason and then kills him with it's hyper-realisticness or something cuz why not? :P

.. Surprisingly, someone made a game to go along with the Sonic.EXE story and it went viral. Fans started pouring in and suddenly this crappy story was turned into something bigger.

The fandom was sick. All of the artists, musicians, let's players, etc- Those guys brought this thing to life and actually made it interesting to think about. There are even some creative people who took the core idea of "spooky sonic" and completely overhauled it. (My favorite of those overhauls being ShutUpJoJo's Needlem0use, which I think is a perfect mix between emotional and creepy)

Sonic.EXE's success story is interesting to me - Despite him coming from one of the cheesiest creepypastas ever, he was adopted by the many awesome people on the internet and turned into this cool popular spooker alongside classics like Ben Drowned.

He was also commonly paired with Tails Doll (AKA one of my favorite Sonic characters ever) which made me like him quite a bit back in the day.

.. His story did have a sequel (or prequel? I can't tell) at one point, but it's on an unholy level of cringe and I'm not gonna talk about it for the sake of your sanity. It's called "The cult of X" or something like that if you wanna look into it. It was made by JC and from what I've seen, is somehow way worse than the original in my humble opinion.

Sonic.EXE has clearly grown past his origins, from being a poorly-written creepypasta to being one of the most beloved creepypastas on the internet with lots of people creating all these different interpretations of him.

I like talking about his story because like I mentioned earlier, I find it pretty intriguing how he achieved great success despite his OG creepypasta being very meh..
