More than 150 apocalypse predictions have already failed in the past. Why do you think this one will fulfill?
The only reason the "Mayan prediction" is so popular is that we live in a digital world where information spreads rapidly, faster then ever. That is why I've made this sarcastic video for those who still believe our world will end at 12/21/2012.

I did this more as an experiment on whether I can make a decenty looking short clip. I've made the Earth model in Cinema 4D some time ago (see it here: fav.me/d4xc2ba ) so now I just animated the rotation. Tricky part was the clouds but I used keyed distorsion on them and it made them look good. Rendered and exported, then imported in After Effects. In there I made the Earth explode using Shatter effect. For the explosion I also used prekeyed stock from www.detonationfilms.com/PreKey… . Last thing to do was camera shake during explosion. And with that done the hardest part of the work was behind me. Afterwards followed making of some flying text in AE and export everything into Premiere. Then just some editing, audio sync, effects etc. Now you see the result. I quite like it, and what do you think? Leave a comment or add it to your favs so I can see you like it

These nutters [Christian apocalyptics that is] have been doing this stuff since about 600 AD. Haven't been right yet but that won't slow them down. They're just a variation of the conspiracy nuts. No amount of actually PROOF to the contrary will sway them.
You should make another one showing a guy peaking out of a bunker on Dec 22 and seeing the kids getting on the school bus or something like that.

Very nicely done, except for the expanding ring effect.
I see effects like that all the time, and have no idea why anyone thinks a celestial explosion would look like that, except that so many films of nuclear bombs decades ago showed a shock wave expanding across the ocean surface. There is no ocean surface in outer space, of course, so an exploding planet or an exploding supernova wouldn't create a shock wave across a flat surface billions of miles across.

Yeah sure I know the explosion wouldn't probably look like that but people think it would because they are familiar with explosions of that type. If I did make something else, even if more realistic, it wouldn't look that cool to people as this does. This whole video is based on stereotypes anyway to make it more ridiculous so I guess the explosion fits there.

This looks cool! I like how the visual work fits the rythm of the music! Also the dramatic typography. Very cool.
Apocalypse is a favorite topic of humanity forever. For example I read about people, in the Middle Age, that thought the earth would end during an eclipse of the sun. Also pretty sure that most people which are into apocalypse are religious. Latest newspapers say some people already quit their jobs, locked themselves up in hoppers and meditate/pray/etc. Others believe that Jesus will arrive in an UFO on 21th and kill off all bad people. My personal favorite. xD
