Personality:
Rue is a young excited Bihe ready to explore the universe. A bit of a free spirit, she loves to discover new things and figure out how they work. She's especially fascinated with Mechanical Engineering, and has been doing her best to master it's secrets. Sometimes she can become a bit bull-headed and stubborn when it comes to something she wants or believes in, but it's almost never in malice, mostly just her fiery passion making a ruckus. Her curiosity is never ceasing, and can often drive her good-intentions into a more mischievous territory, thinking that the end results can justify the method. But in the end Rue loves the idea of helping and inspiring others, a noble mission she wants to pursue with or without the help of the IPF. (Though being part of a larger organization would certainly help and be awesome.)
Background:
Early in Rue's life, she happened to come across an off-worlder's spacecraft on her home world. Until that point she had never seen the artificial metal that made up the ship, and she was fascinated. When she asked her living pod's people about it, she was hushed and told to forget what she had seen. Forget that there was a whole different world in the sky? Forget that. The next opportunity she had (at the age of 8), she stowed away aboard a visiting ship and sailed into the stars. After the initial struggle of adjusting to a completely different world, Rue got lucky and was taken in by a kind mechanical shop owner who took her under his wing. He taught her many things, her prime interest clearly working on mechanics. Something about the metals being changed and molded into completely different things, making complicated systems that held endless possibilities was just so much more interesting then the boring and predictable plant-life Rue's planet and culture revolved around. During this time she found her best friend Orbie, who proved to be an excellent assistant. But before long Rue began growing bored once again, feeling like she could do more then repair small engines in the middle of no where. She happened to hear a passing through stranger say something about the IPF (That was a peace force thing right?) looking for recruits on an EXCLUSIVE force. Now that sounded like the job for Rue!
Species Info: Bihe (Bi-HE)
Aside from other world visitors visiting the planet in the name of scientific research, the Bihe are a reclusive species. When first discovered, the Bihe were acknowledged to have intelligent life and invited to share in the technologies of the greater galactic alliance, but politely refused and chose to ignore the whole thing.
Different groups of Bihe live on the planet, various attributes depending the the climate and terrain they live in. But the most consistent attributes consist of being plant-like in form, their inherent structure being hollow with sensitive fibers connecting and intertwining within, and some sort of root plant that acts as the intelligence epicenter of the being.
The hollow holes in the Bihe form serves critical to their method of communication, in-taking air through the lower entrances, traveling up and out the upper exit. The fibers inside the hollow frames mesh and meld, allowing different sounds to be formed when the air exits, allowing the Bihe to speak. It's not uncommon for the Bihe's talk to be described as almost musical in nature.
Most Bihe frames will have various plant life growing off them in excess. The depending on the plant, these plants can act almost as an external form of expression, with the Bihe's different emotions causing strangely rapid growths or even, in some cases, decay.
The Bihe age and mature much more quickly compared to most species (most likely due to their homeworld's rich environment), but inherently their life cycle can be detrimentally shorter if not in an ideal ecosystem.
The Bihe culture puts an emphasis on family ties and maintaining local tradition and practices. Change must prove to have community wide benefits and not interfere with past traditions. A minimalist people, The Bihe thrive on their environment, and only take what is needed.
If a Bihe is to stray or reject the community's traditions, they might receive corrective action or be cast out, but this is very rare.
Abilities:
- Rue's arms are made up of flexible vines, not necessarily tied together and can be split apart. She usually keeps them together though, mimicking hands that she sees most other species sporting. She can have them grow and stretch rapidly to extend her reach, but the longer she wants the longer and more strenuous it will be. Also no joints, so can effectively be described as noodles.
- "Hair" is made up of soft leafy bushels, which react to Rue's emotions. Unlike hair however, Rue can feel when it is cut, burned or plucked.
-Happy: Small flowers bloom
-Sad/distressed: Leaves wilting & falling
-Angry: Thorns sprout
- Large Flower at the top of her hair acts as intelligence epicenter, called Life Flower. Should anything seriously injure it, it could render Rue "brain dead". Needs regular watering and sunlight, promoting a happy, healthy Rue. The opposite could cause a tired, sluggish and lazy attitude. Rue keeps it covered to keep it safe.
- Mechanically Gifted. Rue has devoted a lot of time and energy into practicing mechanical engineering, and although she still has much to learn, she's made leaps and bounds in progress. Not really big on reading books, Rue can pick up something quicker if she watches how it's done or gets any hands-on experience.
- Multi-tool: Hardware model. Gifted to her from her teacher, it uses hard-light technology to create and form various tools all while utilizing the same handle. With a simple press of a button, it can go from wrench to hammer, with adjustable length and sizes for those tough to reach places! However, programming is only limited to hardware tools.
Strengths:
- Quick thinker and excellent problem solver
- Surprisingly flexible, especially her arms
- Persistent, "no-quit" attitude
- Positive Outlook
Weaknesses:
- A very light build, Rue isn't the strongest tool in the toolbox.
- Without protection or precautions, Rue does not fair well in extreme environments.
- Fire, for obvious reasons.
- Still has a lot she doesn't understand (both objects and concepts)
- Super weak spot in her Life Flower
Extra:
- Rue's not the first Bihe to leave her home world, but it certainly is uncommon.
- No sense of personal space
- Former place of employment called "Rocket Repairs"
