His name was inspired by the falling chandelier from the play, "Phantom of the Opera", in which the 'Palais Garnier' opera house is used as the setting for the original 1910 novel.

With a bit of a morbid sense of humor, Garnier's laughter is long and chilling, making most of those around uneasy. But he enjoys those that will keep his company, and doesn't mind working with Cory or his team. He has yet to really develop a sense of loyalty.

Cory had been saving his Duskball for a while, trying to find the right time and opportunity to use it's unique catching abilities. He finally found the chance in a fast encounter with a wild Litwik, his ball thrown but a few seconds ahead of other eager trainers. Glad that luck was on his side, Cory happily accepted the chance to raise this equally unique pokemon.
