So, I play trombone during marching season, except right now my f attachment trigger trombone is in the shop. D: so that means i have to use the school's old yamaha when we go to chicago. ):but anyways, back to topic, during marching season, we go to our little sections to warm up before halftime and the trombone section have our own little group. we're the only section that is like a family and it's just hilarious. ^^ so anywys, before every halftime we would always go this. some section would just pray and then spit on the ground (aka flutes) but who cares, the trombones are awesome.

Dude, we do almost the same thing! We put our hands in the middle and shout "BONERS ON THREE!" then count to three, shout "BONERS!" and get on the field to march.
It's even more fun when you're a girl and the parents look at you weird for participating with them.

really? i don't think we've ever done that. the closest thing we've ever done to that was when the band slipt to woodwinds and brass and the brass, after tuning, starting doing some of our band chants before our exhibition show, then we started jumping and screaming at the top of our lungs. xD I love the brass. (we only did this because we were the ending band)

Heh, it's the eighth graders that are best, but the sixth graders are almost on the same level. The seventh graders are.... well, I 'm hoping to switch to a boarding school the year they come up, so I'm thanking my stars. Especially the french horns (my sister) and oboe; they're playing out, just not playing right.
But High School A-band rocks, so none of that really effects me.

which is too bad for them because I DO NOT want to leave marching band with a gold trophy or II's. I want I's and SILVER trophies all the way through.
Is theband system where you're at like that to? where silver means superior (I's) and gold means excellent (II's)?

I don't know, I'm not special enough to view the trophies (still a freshy, even if I am second chair); but yes, 1's are much better than 2s, but because of our drumline and tuba section; we made 2's all marching season.

Next year, I'll have /some/ authority and be able to help whip us into number 1 shape! As long as marching in parade formation isn't involved in the plans... hate marching in parades!

seriously? our colorguards are flagette rejects (becuase our CGs are fat and the flagettes are also the danceline and they try to be skinny)

In our band it's only the Color Guard; we don't allow the danceteam on our feild at half-time because they're major stinkers and all that jazz.
The colorguard are all the girls that think that the our dance team is horrid but dance and/or play an instrument but don't want to play it. The majority of them don't eat.

wow.. that's like.. the opposite of ours. everyone hates the colorguard, but as a person, we all like most of them because they're really nice. but as CG, they suck. D:
i can't say much about the flagettes becuase i hate them as a whole however, one of my best friends is a flagette member.. let's just say i hate them all but her. x]

two new flagettes joined and the flagette captians told the two girls they need to lose weight becuase flagettes are supposed to be skinny. i can't say much becuase i don't like the new recruits to begin with, but even so.. so mean.
But the fagettes are good. they usually win all I's in each competitio and we always get Best Majorette thanks to them.

We hate the color guard and the individual members of it.
They're horrid twirlers drama-laden light-fingered girls who I swear stole my iPod and steal from the band's food every single time the door's open.
They can't count, they don't understand music, and they can't keep their shiny flags together.
They're always complaining about the band and how it's us to blame for everything, when they're the ones that give the band a bad name by claiming to be a member of the Pride.

They do... but no one would watch if it was just the band. They like to see shiny flags and big obvious complexities.
So what if the band does a kick-line and manages and have a repetitive part that's very complicated to stay in step with; the crowd only cares about the guard-girl in the flamingo suit that runs around smacking into your trombone or the butterflies kites flying in the second song!

Yeah, but then they get their friends that march near you dearing half-time to whack you across the head with their flags and try to make it seem like an accident.
Then you go to hold onto your head because your worried your brain is falling out, and you drop your trombone, bell comes away from slide, the moving part of the slide from the full slide part, and everyone is wondering what you're doing and why you're always the one that gets hurt when marching.
Speaking from personal experience. I'm always getting messed up when band's involved. Like my jacket went missing, and I only found this really oversized one. Turns out the drum-major (who could fit two of me in his space) had my jacket and was going to try and put it on before he realized his uniform had shrunk. And drunign competition, my mouthpiece fell out in our beginning number during a horn-flash. I wasn't playing the whole time. Then after, I had to run back on the field to find it in front of full stands. It's always something with band. That's why my love for the trombone is so masochistic.
