It is easy to forget sometimes how much practice, how many iterations and approaches it takes to reach your goal.

Of course I had Leah for years, her name changed twice now, but since she never got a final reference sheet with all angles, her looks was in perpetual development. I've spent many hours studying faces: real, more cartoony, less cartoony, then hair was an obstacle after that as well. So I decided to sit down, drew her symmetrical concept (which also took few tries) after trying few styles. Then came figuring out her hair from both sides. It's easy to draw the bangs side for me than the other. But also since she's semi cartoony I need to keep in mind I got more flexibility on aestetic from various angles than staying true to 'what would the 3d model look like?' I find that often times it's detrimental to the 2d process for me.

This is not so much of a sketchdump as it is me showing the work behind the final. Even if this little sheet is just a tip of the iceberg of sketches and tests and doodles i've done ahead of time.
