Why do you think that its a bad habit?
I look a lot for refereces when i draw or look for inspiration~
I usually look up for photos now, but drawings do inspire me too!
And theres nothing wrong with it~

I'm not sure :/ I guess I feel that if I reference something then it's not coming from my imagination. Like all the other good artists out there can draw and render so well without looking at anything and then I feel like a leech of an artist

I think that you are too hard on yourself~
I use references too, but i want t draw more realistically so i am using a lot of photos references~
But usually when i come up in mind with an idea i do most of photos references myself because i cant find refereces i need~
I think that when you will grow uo as an artist (by training training and training again) you won't need references or you will need references pretty rarely becase you will know how to draw stuff the way you want
You just need to get more familiar with your imagination

You're right, I'm pretty hard on myself, I sometimes think I'm almost like Rouge, but an artist Rouge, and i don't have any power unless I'm looking at something. So I try to find my own power. Pretty horrible combo i know...
