Here's picture of the things that could go wrong with the portal to the nether world.The bottom left corner really happened to me.

I some how spawned in a bedrock cavern yesterday, i changed to creative and busted a hole to get out

When I spawned in the nether I spawned under the sea of lava when I went back my nether portal failed and instead of
Spawing 500 feet out into the sea

Yeah, my first experience was the top one. Finally decided to try make a portal, suited up with the best tools and equipment before entering... first thing that happend I stepped over the edge and fell a couple of miles before landing in a sea of lava. My reaction should not be translated to coherent speech.

More recently i had a portal form in almost complete lava, there was a small gap which had lava all around it.

I landed on a floting island.. but it wasn't obvious, so i tried to dig through to the Laval-level and had to notice: etiher ein build a bridge somehow, or the plattform out of a different material (stones ftw..) , or i'm going to die very soon, cause the Ghasts kept destroying the island.. nasty situation xD

Once i landed and i was floating above lava. there was no platform, just lava.

I wonder if anyone has emerged under the lava line, so that part of the portal was above the lava and part below it. And not just in the lava, but perhaps close to the lava.

Nobody ever said it would be easy, or that your portal would spawn right on top of lava...

LOL i had it where i tele'd to an underground netherack cavern -_- and im a tad too scared to dig up and cause a flood of lava around my portal xD

Never happened to me, although in the Aether i keeped spawning in mid-air, so i had to use the hot air balloon to go to a island

i've had the portal turn up miles away on the return trip (going in and out the same one lol)

ever had the portal spawn underground? like, DEEP under the bloodstone in some dark-as-hell little cave?
thank god there's no creepers in the nether. . . or i'd be completely screwed.

( or spawn convieniently on a tiny little platform in the air where your target practice for ghasts. . . )
