Spurtle Pokedex Entry 1: A distinct type of mushroom grow from Spurtle's back right after it hatches. The relationship between Spurtle and the mushroom is symbiotic.

Spurtle Pokedex Entry 2: The mushroom which grows on Spurtle's back is supposed to grant those who ingest it with gigantism. This gigantification seem to only affect Spurtle though, not other pokemon or humans.

Gargantoise Pokedex Entry 1: After Gargantoise evolve from Spurtle, the mushroom on its back grow as well and seem to reproduce from a spore on top of the pokemon's head.

Gargantoise Pokedex Entry 2: Pokemon scientists and professors seem to conclude that Gargantoise's growth doesn't stop. The biggest Gargantoise found in the wild was reported to be able to reach a 6 storeys high building.
