This one was a bit difficult to get working at first. I couldn't really find any real animals that seemed similar to Sneasel in body shape, but there is one fictional animal that fits it rather well, I think, and that would be the camouflage beast from Primeval. I figured with those claws and that weird build, it would make for a great Sneasel analogue, and it didn't hurt that it's by far my favorite made-up creature in the series. I also went a step further and made this Sneasel a bit bioluminescent, since those gems have to serve some kind of a cool function, and Sneasel is (as far as I know) nocturnal. Maybe it's some way of luring prey close, or to communicate with others of its kind. Whatever.More alternate 'inspired' Pokemon-

I personally like the fanon theory that camo beasts coming through anomalies inspired folklore about gremlins &/or goblins.
