"(...) There was an enormous aura of tension between them at that moment, something so dense and foggy that it would make anyone close wish to get away immediately. Riddle certainly didn't want to be in that situation right now... Or did he?

At the same time he was angry with her, he regretted having said so many cruel words: he wished everything was back to normal... But that sensation soon left... And returned, like a harmonic oscillator: to repent was technically impossible. Ginny had acted in a conflict against his beliefs and he would not apologize for rebuking actions - for which she was responsible - that he had not carried out.

But, for some reason, it made him want her even closer to him.

Ginny had something else others did not see or were very superficially aware of. Tom knew her and had watched her enough to know. He admired her too, he finally admitted and accepted. Her personality, bravery; the daring, the sensuality, and so many other aspects that he would spend all night describing.

She challenged him. Without knowing it, she challenged him. She took him out of his status quo in a way no one has ever succeeded. His pride hated that. However, there was another dark side, an unknown to him, that yearned for more. Which, to his surprise, grew more and more; it wasn't something that started that day. And since then, they both lived in an endless dispute, in which their pride had been successful until now.

"If you continue to do so, you will end up losing it for good."

❝I'm alright, don't be sorry, but it's true

When I'm gone you'll realize

That I'm the best thing that happened to you...❞

Riddle wondered if that was what he wanted. “Losing” was not in his vocabulary, however he was aware that, on one side or the other, he would end up losing. There was no other way. Only, on closer examination, there was a side on which, if he chose, he would suffer an immeasurably greater loss. Tom had to make his choice before it was too late.

❝So far away
So far away...❞

This was perhaps his last chance. And he finally realized it.

Tom slowly approached Ginny and they were now a short distance away. The two looked at each other briefly. His heart rate was accelerating. She had no idea what was coming from him and was even partly afraid. However, something inside her wanted her deepest thoughts to come true... He was in danger of failing, of seeing her slip out of his hands forever, but he didn't care. It seemed that something was telling him that this was the moment...

Then, his long, thin fingers grasp Ginny's chin and, without hesitation, he leaned and kissed her.

A soft, natural and calm kiss, but quite intense, powerful and long, full of repressed feelings, which initially made the girl's eyes widen in amazement and incomprehension and lose her breath. As soon as Ginny realized what was happening, she closed her eyes as if in a dream and reciprocated in an identical way, Riddle approaching her; the room, once filled with ice, quickly warmed up... It was as if they were making up for disagreements and everything they could have had a long time ago.

After long moments - hours, days or years passed, it made no difference to them - Tom slowly walked away, keeping his breath and face very close to Ginny's, while both slowly opened their eyes in the silence, staring at each other.

He put his hands on the redhead's head and hugged her tightly.

"I'm sorry...", Tom sighed, saying in a whisper. He seemed genuinely sorry. He hugged her, even protective, as if she were his little one. He did not need words, as it was as if everything that had happened - the fights and disagreements - was being explained by that gesture, even though he did not clearly understand some of his own emotions. Ginny now understood perfectly, in a sudden understanding of what seemed too obvious, but which is often overlooked.

She smiled.

"Is this the first time you kiss someone?", Ginny murmured against his body, nestled after a while, breaking the taciturnity.

"Yes", he said quietly, with a smile. Right after that he put his lips on her forehead, leaving her a silent kiss. That question hid several other subjective questions. And just one word was enough for all of them to be implicitly answered."
