Hi there! Well to answer your question, I used 3 tools for my dekstop. The background, the calender and the navigation are all different components.
These are the following tools i used:
1) For the customization on the background and the start menu (yes i am using windows OS ) I use StyleXP [link] However you can use other THEME program to customize your OS as well.
Along with Style XP, i visit to ThemeXP [link] where you can download various themes.
2) For the calender, you can get it at [link] it's called Rainlendar. Very useful doesn't take up much memory.
3) Lastly for the navigation, i use MobyDock [link]
okay this i have to warn you, when you are adding/removing icons to your mobydock, it is very buggy. It can crash. There is no way to avoid this, just keep trying untill you are satifed with your sets of icons and then restart your pc. It doesn't take up much memory space as well but it might take a while for you to adjust to using mobydock. It may still be buggy once you start using it but after a while, when you get used to it, everything will feel normal again.
There are other alternative to mobydock (i downloaded some other program and use it as well. I can't remember the name/ulr of that product sorry) but most of them won't look that nice/user friendly as compared to mobyDock.
Yeah, there you go, 3 simple steps to customize your desktop
Enjoy!

That is too wild! I'm gonna do it! I looked and I thought, nah that CAN'T be Mac! Then I realized you have all those PC programs and then yes, it's gotta be Windows! Awesome....thanks very much for the thorough instruction...
