Up until recently, X was my favorite cause, well I'm a graphics whore. But after whitnessing the golden supreme awesomness that was Final Fantasy VI, I shed more tears than I had when I had seen Tidus fade, Aerith die (Well... I didn't really cry then but it's something a lot of people cry about... Like... You've just lost the person that can heal you best), Zack die(He was so AMAZING!) or when I found out David Tenint wasn't going to be Doctor Who anymore(That...had nothing to do with this...). Anyone with a brain, even if it is an acorn, should sit down, drink their goddamned tea, and play VI. The musical score gave me goosebumps, it was blissfully enticing. It's graphic whores like me who take away the love from awesome games like VI. It doesn't take graphics to make a good game. The story is the most important part. Plus, Insane clowns that haunt your nightmares make the best villans don't you think? ^^ I mean, sephiroth doesn't strike fear into my heart. In fact, I have a poster of him hanging over my bed and I am perfectly fine. If Kefka was over my bed I would probably wake up with nightmares. If a villan gives you nightmares, then he's gotta be good. VII is still a great game, but six just had more raw emotion. The characters made you want to get to know them instead of being "I'm surrounded by people who love me but I'm a lonly son of a (insert your favorit word) because i was experamented on and have girls pair me up with several men... at the same time". It had Characters that made you lauge, cry, yell out in frustration on why they wont just follow eveyone out cause of your past and get killed cause a clown's dead and his tower's collapsing (...I liked Shadow*pout*) and......... I think I just lost the point of what I was saying... Something about graphics... (I just type what comes to mind, sry) FFVI FTW!!

Personaly, I looooved FF6. I think for sure it was better than FF7. Then again, I think alot of FF games were better than FF7. But FF12 is my favorite. :3

I have several reason to share:
1.) The FF7 is a little lucky because became the 1st FF7 had better graphics (3d)
2.) Many people today firstly played the PSX version of FF & even don't know what SNES it is.
3.) FF6 unpopular to younger gamers because of it's age
4.) People don't like FF6 because of the character medieval theme & prefer modern anime-like design character like FF7 (which is nonsense)
I always regret why FF6 must came out only several years before 3D graphics on games are applied....Why not wait a little more???FF6 could become the no.1 FF in the history!!!

in my opinion ff6 was much better because it didn't have just one party i mean there were over 20 chars in ff6 also i think that sephys just a mama's boy and genova wasn't the main villian it's obviosly hugo lol but then again theres always gonna be fanboys/girls of ff7 i liked ff6 because most chars could kick ass and shadow's storyline was never truely told also u didnt need 2 find every charecter to beat the game heck all u had 2 do was get celes edgar sabin and setzy and u could beat the game it would be really hard but it could be done

People are arguing that Sephiroth was one of the main pro-points to Final Fantasy 7 but I ask you..
who can be the dramatic "This is sickening! You sound like chapters from a self-help book!" line right before the final boss!?
That and Kefka was one of the most origional villains of the series and his laugh is trademark to this day.

It's all about my favorite FF. ^ was the best, granted Sephiroth may have looked "cooler" than Kefka, but hell Kefka actually suceeded in destroying the world... then turned alot of them into a cult for himself ^^
I still remember my favorite team, Locke was my lead, Celes was next in line, Sabin for the muscle and Edgar was my cleanup man. ^^
Ah... I wish they would conscider remaking this game... leave the story as is, maybe a touch-up on graphics, help remind newer fans the final fantasy roots.....
I thought the updated version of Final fantasy 4 was pretty well done... something like that for 6 would be amazing (although I think there's a group making their own fan version of an updated 6... I forget the link though...)

I just can't give my opinion about that mystery why people tend to prefer FF VII over VI, as I have played only VI myself, but that game rocks! The storyline is fantastic, the characters have personality and they're not at least emos and that game has a brilliant villain (does Kefka look like a clown because so many people are afraid of clowns... Hmmm...). Okay, maybe I disappear now

Its most likely because b4 PlayStation came along video games(especially rpgs) weren't that big of a deal to most people.
With the advent of 3d graphics and the regular music and fmv(remember that ) drew people to games and since ff7 was their first exposure to the awesomeness that is final fantasy and rpgs in general that game is ngrained as "the best".
Now i like ff7, its the best out of the games after it, and i enjoy the games and movie associated with it, but ff6 is just that much better.
if it had been out during the ps years i guarantee it would have a much larger fan base.
It would also help if more modern gamers( i use that term loosely ) didn't have a predjudice against 2d games anything lower than 32 bit they would discover far better games than the rattcrap that followed.

This picture is absolutely adorable. I really like Final Fantasy VII, but I played Final Fantasy VI back in 2004 when it was first released. My mother is a Final Fantasy Fanatic, so when it was released in the U.S. she got it. I was only seven at the time, but I was old enough to play and understand a decent amount of it. Although I called Kefka; Kefcup cause well... I couldn't pronounce anything very well.
I still to this day play and re-play Final Fantasy VI. The Magicite system was just absolutely interesting and I enjoyed the fact that unlike Final Fantasy VII, you can permanently learn the magic instead of having to equip and rearrange everything with the materia set up.
The characters were absolutely lovable too. I mean, so some of the really don't have back stories, but come on, the moogles are in other Final Fantasy stories as well without a reason of being. Mog simply joined the team if you save him, therefor in a way repaying a debt.
Locke to this day is still my most favorite character in the game. <3

I preferred FF6 to FF7 because FF7 had Claymation looking characters in battle and lego people out of battle. FF6 had Mode 7 map graphics, which by the way still rock. And I think Locke(my favorite FF6 character)and Gau(My other favorite)could totally kick the crap out of Cloud. The only real reason I liked FF7 was because of one man: Vincent Valentine.

Final fantasy VI is, in my opinion, the BEST final fantasy ever. Bwuaha, revolved around 12 emos...that made me laugh. 
Personally I think that FFVII is like the Naruto of video games. It's a good game and all, but it's way too overrated and a lot of its fans can be really obnoxious (Not everyone, mind you. Just a lot of them).

This pic is so cute! And i have to say that i LOVE FF6 A LOT more than FF7, The only reason i got into FF7 was because i wanted to try something new, ( i was playing a playsation for the very first time) i liked it, i got obsessive over it, but after a month, i got bored with it.
It had HORRIBLE Re-play value But FF6 i could play for years.
I don't know why i didn't like FF7, maybe it was because uh....cloud had to mope in every single cut scene!?? And Sephiroth wasn't even that good looking, i was hearing false rumors. And he seemed to me like a rip-off of setzer! and Aeris' theme sounded almost exactly like Celes' and i felt insulted (you know the beginning of Aria di Mezzo Carattere?)
so there's my ten cents.

As for this discussion, I could write up a full page response easily to fight back, if not prevail over every comment made against FFVI by a certain Sephiroth manic that has βgracedβ us with their presence. In fact, I did, but after looking over it, it made me seem as bad of a fan-wanker as the one amongst us. So instead, I say this.
To each their own, I suppose. We canβt change your mind and certainly you arenβt swaying this crowd either, despite the always well recieved tactic of trying to reply to every comment in an attempt to shove your ideals down our throats. Especially with such feeble opinions. Of course, you have made Sephiroth fans and FFVII fans in general look somewhat... annoying. I guess I should have gone with my original idea and posted my page long rant, but you pretty much did that for me. ^^
I love the fantasy, light-heartedness, and if you want to call it that, cheesyness, that comes with FFVI, FFIX, and the Tales of series. I suppose that is why I like them over the more serious FFVII and FFVIII. I never got to play FFXII sadly. Maybe someday.
I'm so sorry and sad to hear that you've experienced something like that with your art. When I go to cons I'm always on the look out for FFV, IX, and Tales of art, but they are so hard to find under the piles and piles of KH and FFVII stuff. -.-; I guess that explains it then. Thanks a lot fanboys. =/
I really don't know what people see in Cloud, Aeris, and Sephiroth. Both Cloud and Sephiroth are puppets. Jenova is the real enemy of the game. Aeris... I never could get past the pink, flowers, and clingy personality. And so what if she dies? She wasn't the first FF playable character to die. Galuf died in FFV.
Creative characters, histories, and plots didn't just spring up with FFVII. In fact, most games even before FFVII did this, if I recall correctly. Itβs somewhat of a necessity if you want your game to be played. If you donβt like the characters, if there is no back story, if there is not a well laid out plot, then how is it to keep people's attention? I hate including other games into what is, should, be a strictly FF debate, but Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, and the early Tales of games were all doing this long before FFVII came along.
Even today, FFVI has stood the test of time. Back then, it was a big deal that the two lead roles were girls. And now even, itβs music score and story are considered masterpieces. While graphics arenβt a big deal to me, Iβd love to see it remade today. Iβm disappointed by all this FFVII stuff they keep throwing out. I played and liked FFVII, donβt get me wrong. I was disappointed by the movie, and how out of character many of the characters were. I didnβt even bother to play Dirge of Cerberus, and have heard mixed results about it. And now I hear a prequel is coming out. Why? Havenβt the milked the series enough? There are so many other games and series being looked over by Square-Enix.
Whoops, looks like I ended up fan-wanking after all. Oh well.

shephiroth only killed arith and kinda became the bad guy at the end and jenova kinda played almost no part in teh story
plus wasint the point of teh game to actuly find sephiroth for a while?
