Hello, glad to see you around again! Best of luck rectifying everything, it's really reassuring to see an update on what happened. <3

There was still art owed to me from before your hiatus, should I bump up the note regarding it?

Hello!
Tbh im glad to see you back, i was one of the people who commission you, tbh I thought that money lost, but sadly , i dont remember even what was...or how much was it, by any chance do you keep a tab for it? Or maybe i could serach thru my notes...though i have thousands...(no kidding it says i have over 3000+ notes)
And another sad thing is that paypal doesnt let me receive money (a thing with our country) so either way i wouldnt be able to get the money back haha ;-;

Also hey mistakes happen and at least this was a lesson for me too, from now on i just commission who can finish in less than 6 months (the amount paypal has to get a refund) this actually saved me from another artist ;w;/

I'm happy to see you back for now <3
I wanted to drop this comment here to tell you you're an amazing artist that failed no one even if you think you did. No one can blame you for being in a bad mindset or for something else you can't truly control. You're here now making amends and learning from your past actions. And what matters most is taking care of yourself so you can do your best with what you set your mind to.
I hope you're staying safe and healthy, welcome back.

Hey tabnei, its good to see you again. I look forward to hearing from you since I'm one of the few people who have been waiting on their commission.

I'm happy to hear that you'll do your best to fix things and refund the people you owe commission.
Although I'd like to ask if it's still possible to ask for the commissions to be complete instead of a refund? Since I personally still rather get my commission done TT

Hey, just dropping by to give you a big tight hug, I empathize with the things you've gone through and why you might have ended up not honoring those commissions. I ended up in a vicious circle like that myself, where I would take too many commissions, lose all my motivation and then make people wait forever, which just fueled my self hatred and insecurities. I think some people will be more forgiving than others, I was fortunate enough to get through those stages without an immense backlash, but I still feel guilty that I disappointed some people who supported me as an artist, and those people might never come back to commission me.

As long as you can change your work policy I'm sure you will slowly regain people's trust, luckily the community here is very understanding ♥ Your art is awesome so there's certainly greatness waiting for you, I'm glad you're taking steps to righting your wrongs and taking a weight off your chest! Wish you all the best <33

It's good to see you back.
I think there are different ways you can try to make things work. What works for one person may not work for another, really, so I won't do the whole "you should do this instead" thing.
You're an amazing artist. And I don't think you had any ill will when you took commissions before regardless of the outcome. Of course, that outcome was negative and there are some people still affected by it but it's good to see that you're doing your best to fix it to the best of your abilities. I'm sure this was a learning experience for you.
Though, while I am glad to see that you're doing your best to refund the people that commissioned you before, please don't hurt or strain yourself too much while doing so. The pandemic is affecting many people and I'm just a bit concerned for you as well...

Okay I know I said that I won't do the whole advice thingy but I did want to say... While I'm not someone who is a super popular artist with numerous customers, as someone who has been on both sides of the transactions (as the artist and as the commissioner), I find that communication is extremely important. Even if there's no significant update, it's good to hear from the artist that they remember my order even if they have yet to start on it. Even if it's because of something like the lack of motivation, while it can be disheartening to hear, it's better than silence because then the commissioner is left wondering what happened and are bound to feel uneasy. Taking long on a commission can be okay most of the time as long as there is some form of communication.

To make it easier on yourself from now on, Don't take money until after the sketch is done, or before you remove the watermark from the final piece. It will keep you more clear-headed and focused on your current commission because you have to complete it to get paid. I did that when I did occasional pieces because it can get very overwhelming. And you're an amazing artist. I hope you find a good rhythm so that you can share art again and perhaps find a career in it as well.

I agree. But as a seller, one should follow their instincts too. I rarely have artists ask me for payment in advance because many artists have heard of me and I have online history of many, many successful commissions. Research the people trying to commission you and it'll save you many headaches.

There's no such thing as "instinct". You simply cannot tell 100% whether someone's going to screw you over or not. There have been scandals involving people who were well-rooted in the community and had many "successful" commissions and then did a chargeback on everyone out of the blue. On the other hand there are also many people with rather bare profiles and no online history who're reliable and agreeable customers.

I'll agree there. You can't know 100%, definitely not. Instint/intuition helps, but yes, it's not 100% guaranteed. So yes, protect yourself as needed. If one has no references, they should be open and willing to compensate for that. I feel like those other scandals are less often. But in the end, it's up to each person and the amount of money on the line.
