How did you do the shading on Togekiss? it's beautiful!

Well I did it in Paint Tool Sai on a layer mode called "Shade and Lumi" but I think it is linear burn Photoshop. I did it all in gray first (the shadow layer) and then took airbrush tool and shaded it with different colors

It actually just ended, but I suppose you could do it for January or any month. It was a set up calendar on tumblr with each day of the month holding a pokemon type or subject to draw.
