Why would I? If you see Mal, then you see Mal. I'm a 4chan verteran. If something as little as character resemblance made me emo, 4chan would have made me slit my wrists years ago.
I wonder if it was a sobconscious thing on my part? I adore westerns (the space opera type in particular, like Firefly and Cowboy Bebop and Trigun), and I do like Mal quite a bit. Both he and Optimus are leaders that I would follow, though for different reasons. Interesting.
