I've seen other artists do design contests, and I'm excited to try it!
I've been trying to make concepts for a spiral clown for a while and I could never find the right one, so it's the perfect opportunity to let my awesome watchers step in and help me out!
In case you don't know what this is about, this will be a character for me, and I'll pick the three I think exemplify the challenge best and 'buy' them with the prizes!
I can only imagine what abominations will spawn from this hoo boy! Whee dawgies! Golly Gee Gosh!
Mandatory Traits (Stuff you gotta do, design-wise)
- Has to be a Clown (Mimes are also acceptable)
- Has to be in some way inspired by or incorporate spirals
- Can range from 2D spiral to DNA double helix to a metal spring- it just has to be a spiral
- Has to have some sort of backstory, or concept explanation- I'm not talking about a clown sawed in half because 'that's just how he is and no one knows why'- I want ANSWERS! If you don't give them to me, it had better be worth the mystery!
- Has to be a colored, finished fullbody picture of this bad boy/girl. (Does NOT have to be a full-on reference sheet).
- Can be digital or traditional! (If you want to use another medium- Note me! )
- You are NOT limited to one entry! You may submit several if you are so inclined! (But I won't pick more than one of your entries)
- CANNOT be decorated with satanic symbols- pentagrams, 666, inverted crosses etc.
- And I'm just sayin' it so no one says I didn't say it- No NSFW stuff please
- ie. No nudity or sexual themes.
- Conversely, gore is not a problem for me and can be included in the design.
- Body horror is very encouraged- I love drawing it!
- I love teeth- with means I also love smiles
- I love eyes- which means I also love staring
- I love floof- which means I also love floof
- I love drawing spirals, curly-cues, stripes, etc. Obviously. This could include spirally Unicorn horns and twisted tentacles . . .
- I am comfortable with drawing both male and female bodies -thin, fat, muscular, whatever! So go crazy with the body types!
- Come to think of it, it doesn't even have to be human! Can also be an animal, anthro, alien, cyborg, cryptid, whatever!
It would be a lot easier for me to draw a character if they DON'T contain the following traits:
- Large areas of black, or a very dark color- It's much harder to make white contour lines with a black/dark pen, plus I would use a lot more ink than usual.
- The entire rainbow all in one character/outfit- I'd prefer not to gut my pencil case Choose your colors wisely!
- Lots of very tiny, delicate details or patterns (like lacework or plaid). (Stuff like argyle and stripes and polka dots are fine!)
(Please note: You don't have to use these, they could be if you don't know where to start or need inspiration or whatever)

-But please! Other than the mandatory traits, (and my penwork preferences), please feel free to surprise me!

- + 1 Fullbody Monochromatic/Dichromatic piece or 1 Colored Piece!
- A custom design trade between me and you based on a theme you pick!

I'd just like to say now how sorry I am that I can't adopt every one of the entries, and that I can only take three ;v;, but I am really excited for this regardless, and can't wait to see your guys' ideas!

Yo, I got a fairly good concept and design for this, but..... do we have to give them to you afterwards, because I feel it love with the character

hmmmm seems like inspiration struck and junk- i miiiiiiiiiight be entering but-- it says satanic symbols and the like aren't okay- does that mean demonic things in the concept/backstory of the character won't be allowed too or...?

well it's nowhere near completion- i haven't even gotten most of it written down so maybe i could explain it a bit better? so, say for example, you were to have a character design that didn't contain any satanic symbols BUT in their backstory it's written that they're something along the lines of a demon or something like that- would that still be fine or is that a no?
