Description
Wanted to do something that looked like the 90s BAEN/FASA/TOR scifi paperbacks. The random tank in the bg is heavily inspired by one of Keith Laumer's Bolo novel covers. I always enjoyed reading his stuff and the ironically clunky way the Bolo was usually illustrated left a lasting impression xD
Retro wrist blastas ftwwwwwwwww
EDIT: Changed the helmet to something less boring.

This must be used as a book cover, you should sent it to Baen Books (owners/publishers of the Bolo series)

It looks like you have a good color setup here but I feel like this would go from "cool" to "wow!" if you added lots of texture and details, esp to the foreground robot.

You read the Bolo books too? Such amazing (and rare) reads, by any chance did you ever get to read one of Laumer's original anthologies or did you get one of the many that were written after he died?
My favorite Bolo stories ever were "Night of the Trolls" and "Field Test" from Laumer's Annals of the Dinochrome Brigade book and "Shared Experience" from The Unconquerables book

haha, thats awesome, such great stories! In my opinon what made them great was the fact that Laumer was able to tell a grabbing story that incorporated ultimate fighting machines, yet rarely involved them in war itself. There's probably only a handful of us who have even HEARD Bolos, much less read the originals- Its cool to finally run into someone else who has

Speaking of which I had just read his short story "Doorstep." Probably the most memorable story I've encountered in a while.

Never heard of it, was it a Bolo story? I'm actually hooked on a sci-fi too: The Stars My Destination.
Pretty much the Count of Monte Christo Story but in the year 2400AD, its pretty good so far

Love the armor design, big and clunky. Looking at this, even though it's sci-fi and all, you can just hear the deafening noise of tank engines chugging amongst the whistling shrieks of laser artillery. Simple but atmospheric.
