The Manticore .385 is a heavy duty large frame double-action revolver chambered in the .385 Firebolt cartridge, a longer and straight walled offshoot of the .385 Thunder. It is an extremely high-pressure high-velocity handgun or "handcannon" round that is popular with some big game handgun hunters and survivalist on remote worlds as is can effectively kill almost any wild creature while still allowing for decent capacities and can be used in large handguns and carbines alike.
The handgun is aesthetically inspired by "old west" revolvers but mechanically based on various modern competition revolvers. It features a rare andd rather intricate cylinder assembly design that allows rimless cartridges to be loaded with and without moon clips.
Made by Ranger Defense, a small firearms manufacturer specialized in very high quality firearms that are often rather excentric and outlandish in design.
