Description
Living by the sea makes me think about sea monsters a lot.In real life, would Lugia be fluffy and plumy, like a sea bird? Slick and rubbery like a whale? Slick and plumy like a penguin? None of the above?
So, anyway, have some Pokémon fan art!

I'd prefer seeing Lugia as some kind of whale-bird-hybrid. It simply lacks too many typical dragon traits.

What I've always wondered, how would you think the wings would look/work in a real-life lugia? Aerodynamically sound, or more as in the anime version and flight is mainly enabled through psychic powers?

as funny as it might sound, but the wings from the movie (I don't dare taking a look at the lousy anime drawing. That's simply being quick&dirty drawing) ARE able to carry quite some weight.

It has a compareable wingspan and wingshape, but weighs more than TWICE as much as Lugia (compare ~216 kg bird-weight versus 608 kg plane weight), yet has a VERY good gliding ability.
The wing-fingers and the thumb work quite perfectly like "winglets" being seen in a cheap and primitive version on most commercial planes.
Therefore: It's not soo unlikely these wings would work. The ability to "flap" with them, change their shape every second would mean a wind of only around 20-30 kph could be enough for them to carry - and THAT can be achieved quite easily.

who says the wings are entirely filled with flesh?
I'd imagine the wing like a human arm, but with a sail-like, quite long skin and a little bit conjunctive tissue and thanks to feathers pointing backwards with a good aerodynamical surface - all of it tightened due to the pull of the "fingers".
A wing around 1-2 meters short would possibly fail carrying such a body....but think about a 5-7 meters long wing instead!

Yes, penguin like 'skin' sounds logical. I belief that in the game you can get a Silver Feather or something (from Lugia's hide)
which means Lugia has to have feathers, although the game images of Lugia represent a smooth skin ---> Penguins have feathers and have smooth skin :3
