"It's good to see you again," Kiara said lightly, stepping up to Ishi, "I almost sent Vitani to go find you," she smiled weakly at the girl who was slumped forward on the edge of Pride Rock, staring blankly out to the horizons. "You missed Cheka's ceremony, she earned her mark last night" She whispered, watching Ishi slump further into the ground, "she seemed upset," Kiara tilted her head. Though she didn't truly believe Ishi skipping the ceremony was the reason the girl was upset.Grumbling softly, Ishi tilted her head away from Kiara, "couldn't wait to get started," she bit out, her claws flexing slightly, ears flat against her skull. "Where's grandpa?" She asked gruffly, tail flicking idly behind her.
Frowning, Kiara raised her head at a tilt, "Your grandpa is getting ready," he couldn't climb the slope, and even Kiara struggled to climb it when the time came. It wasn't long ago that they both had sat on either sides of Upendo. Upendo excitedly beaming out to Ndona, tired blue eyes crinkling in the corner the wider he smiled, listening intently to each word they gave him. "We'll meet him during the tour of the Kingdom, but for now, we need to watch the sunrise."
Scoffing, the teen, tilted her head up, "Tour the Kingdom? I already know what the Kingdom looks like, mom." She smiled bitterly, and Kiara sighed once more, shaking her head.
"You know it as the Guard, you don't know it as the next ruler, Ishi." She said simply, she didn't comment on the eye roll, "but, I see you've already started watching the sunrise before I even got here," She glanced towards the Kingdom, smiling weakly, "it represents us, the Rulers," she whispered softly, and though Ishi had turned her head to idly watch the sunrise once more, she knew she was listening, "soon it will fall, and it will bring an end to your grandfather's reign. It will rise once more, with my rule," Kiara paused, breathing softly. "And when it falls once more, it will bring the end of mine, and when it rises the next day," she turned to look at her daughter who was staring with slightly wider eyes, "and shall begin your rule."
"It shouldn't of," Ishi whispered, her body beginning to shake. No, it shouldn't of, no, no, Kiara agreed completely. It should've risen with Upendo, it should've, he should be the one to take her place.
"But it will be," Kiara responded lightly, still standing, she flicked her tail, "the light represent everything you touch in Ndona, you will take care of it, make sure it thrives, without the light, the Kingdom will fall into darkness," she nodded, nudging her daughter lightly to sit up, "c'mon, we gotta meet Grandpa, he's waiting for us," she hummed as Ishi sighed softly. "it's going to be okay."
"No it isn't," both of them tensed in an instant, Ishi muttering lowly under her breath, eyes wide. Kiara's head snapped around, wide eyed, spotting the light cub standing at the path leading down Pride Rock. Tense, fur bristling, and head low, Cheka was grumbling lowly, tail lashing behind her, "it's not gonna be okay," the girl muttered bitterly.
"Cheka," Kiara blinked, straightening up, moving towards her younger daughter, "what are you doing up? I told Vitani not to start training you yet." She tilted her head, Cheka grumbled even louder, "honey, why aren't you with your father? Jifunza?" Long ago, her brother Kion had interrupted her own first lesson, though Kiara doubted this would be a simple little game.
"I wanted to see her " Cheka snapped, moving towards Ishi who was sitting up now, though still half slumped over, shuffling her paws, "haven't seen her in days, mom." She sniffed, ears slicked back, "been hidin' away she has." She stared at her older sister, frowning deeply.
Mouth parting, Kiara breathed softly, "Cheka, honey, why don't you go back to sleep?" She moved towards the paler cub, lowering her head, "you don't need to be up yet," she smiled weakly, ears slicking back when Cheka notably ignored her, "Cheka-"
"Where has she been!" Cheka suddenly exploded, whipping around to look at Kiara, "she hasn't been here since he died! She's been hiding, mom!" She cried out, red eyes wide, and tail rising behind her, "No one's seen her, no one's heard her, she was just gone!" She shook in place, before whipping back around on Ishi, crying out, "Where were you!"
"Cheka-!" Kiara started, eyes going wide, but her daughter continued, lurching forward towards Ishi.
"I heard you that day, Ishi!" Cheka was yelling, and Ishi, her Ishi hung her head down, frowning deeply, "you told him to go die! You let him die! You were supposed to be patrolling that day, and you didn't!" She breathed shakily, spluttering, "You were supposed to watch the borders! You were supposed to! You and that stupid Guard were supposed to-!" She cut herself off with a shriek, rising up to shriek up at Ishi's face, "you let him die! You killed him! YOU! THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!"
"CHEKA!" Kiara found her voice, stepping between her two daughters, growling at Cheka who barely flinched, still glowering. Inhaling deeply, Kiara grounded out, "Den, now," she jerkily nodded to the path, "Cheka, now." Cheka stared bitterly up to Kiara, tried to glance around her to Ishi, before turning swiftly, stomping off with a growl that trailed off to a small whine. Sighing heavily, Kiara found herself slumping, "I may have to send you off with Grandpa, Cheka needs-"
"She's right," Ishi mumbled, and Kiara whipped around to look at the teenager, the teenager that was sniffling, and choking up, "it is my fault." Kiara gapped, staring at Ishi, who whined softly, "I let him go by himself, and I didn't even bother-"
Hissing out, Kiara interrupted, "No, it isn't your fault, do not blame yourself," She turned, pulling her daughter close to her, breathing deeply. "This is no one's fault, Ishi. Cheka is grieving." She whispered, rubbing her head atop of Ishi's, "Do not let her words get to you, I will speak to her," she pulled Ishi away, tilting her head, "this isn't your fault, Ishi, do not blame yourself." It was too early in Kiara's opinion for a solely patrol, but thinking back on it, wasn't it too early for Kion as well? "It's okay, Ishi, it's okay, you didn't do anything," she reassured lightly.
She listened at the beginnings of sobs, Kiara sighing softly tucking her daughter close to her once more, hoping her father would be patient enough to wait for the tour.

Featuring Kiara and her daughters! Who now have found themselves in their new roles in the Kingdom much to their discomfort at it. Colors for the background (not Pride Rock tho) were nabbed from a screenshot. Also no true colors for this one, running out of space on stash.
This would take place days after the death of Upendo, the first born of Kiara, and the beginning of the tense relationship between the sisters. Which when I first made kids for Kiara, it wsa just these two, and they were supposed to be I guess the new Mufasa and Scar. They still have the same tense relationship, but it won't end the same, and it doesn't have the same origins of dislike. Cheka blames Ishi for the death of their brother, and hates her role of Guard, and Ishi will eventually become frustrated with Cheka and her negligence of Guard duties. No murdering, just frustrations on both end.
But Cheka won't stay the Guard, eventually she'll convince someone and it will be given to Jifunza their younger brother. Originally I debated on whether Ishi would retake her position and give the Rulership to Jifunza, but decided nah. She was the Queen originally in my hc, and I think she would accept the role, as a way to correct her negligence from before with the Guard, and to try to apologize to Upendo in her own way. She failed, and she has to make up for it and if it means being in a role she hates, she will do that.
I don't think the sisters will ever get back to friendly terms however, I think by the time Cheka does return to being a relatively normal lioness in the Pride the bond will be completely broken. They still see eachother as sisters, but they won't speak on friendly or familial terms. Ishi is the Queen, and Cheka just someone living in her Kingdom, that is as far as their relationship goes.
Also, Kiara's palette is undecided. For now I've just slapped my adult Fluffy colors on her, and I do like em. And before someone tries to I guess educate me on how Fluffy can't be Kiara, and must be Kopa. I don't care. I'm using Fluffy colors for her right now, she is said to be Fluffy by Disney, do not try to 'educate' me, I won't be too happy and there's a chance you'll be blocked. Fluffy can be any of the kids, it doesn't matter which one of the kids, Kiara, Kion, or Kopa has the colors, Fluffy is just a placeholder kid for Simba to show the circle of life continuing.
But I have a bunch of different palettes for Kiara, I may post em alongside of Kion and Kopa palettes, and try to choose one to use solely from there. Or I could continue to use Fluffy colors, since I do like em.
But until I post another dump, or another piece I guess! College has been okayish this semester, but trying to get everything set up for transferring now.
