Description
Thought I'd mock up some quick patterns for my husband to use at work if they decide to do sewing stuffs, and we settled on birds!I made quite a few of these, and figured I would upload them here for you guys, too, because why not, right?
These are very, very simple patterns and projects. I haven't gotten to test them yet, but logically, they should work
I would recommend making these out of felt, as it's cheap and very easy to work with. You should also hand sew these - there is very little seam allowance on them, because I had intended on doing a whip stitch around the outside, or a back stitch, but either way, my intention was for the sewing to be visible when completed (because it looks cute that way, IMO). You'll need a bit of batting or polyfill, too, but if you have an old pillow that you can cannibalize, there you go!
You can download these PDF's and print them - they have both the cutting and sewing instructions on them, too.
- Cut out pattern
- Cut 2x of body, mask and beak
- Glue or stitch overlay pieces in place
- Sew around out edge with a whip stitch or your preferred way
- Leave a small gap to fill with stuffing
- Stuff
- Sew up opening
As always, please show me if you made anything from my tutorials. These would be a fantastic way of starting out, IMO, as they're small, easy, and fast :3
These are meant for non-commercial use only (i.e. making them for yourself/friends, not to sell) Please, please please respect my copyright, I would really appreciate it if you want me to keep making tutorials and patterns.

Can't sew worth a lick, but I'm a monster with my glue gun. I plan on making a bunch of these for my Christmas tree this year. My son's favorite bird is the cardinal. LOVE your simple style. The lines are very fun and (we are mad birdwatchers) you capture the shape of the birds quite well, even while putting them into your way of seeing/drawing them. I like very much, and will post a picture when I get one finished... still trying to figure out what to use for the eye... google eyes look silly, tried a bead that didn't look right... trying a button next.
